so with all this rain that we had in NE yesterday. I was driving and hit a puddle (a small pond) and managed to make my car shut off. The car started right back up and came on with a check engine light. At stop signs and red lights the car stalled. When I was in motion the car was bogging. I went to Roman's house and he checked my car with Scantool. The check engine light was due to a cylinder misfire. He turned the light off. The car has been running fine now since last night. Next issue, my HID's wouldn't come on, I guess the ballasts and what not got drenched. They have started to work again. My fog lights, the angel eyes stopped working. Why you ask, the bottom 1/4 of the lights is filled with water. Yup I could put a goldfish in each, that would be a head turner at car shows huh. The Fog lights do turn on. So much for the bypass valve that I purchased after the last time my car got a little too wet. I converted the CAI back to a short ram intake last night. The car seems to have gotten a little louder, and picked up a little more power. And to top it all off, my alarm that hasn't chirped for arm or disarm in a while, that begins to work after all the flooding.

A long, long time ago... I killed an old T-Bird once by hydro-locking it icon_sad.gif .

Moral of the story... don't drive thru small ponds or large depths of water icon_lol.gif .

Sorry to hear tho, Jaydee.

Its possible that the water got into the CAI, it just depends on how the piping is setup....It would need to be a lot of force in order to shove water up in there unless the care was pretty much submerged up to the pipes...

Sorry to hear about the damage....You may have fried the electrical stuff for the HID's, you said they kicked back on though so they should be ok just depends on how much water actually hit them....as for the headlights with water in them I would pull them off and use a papertowl or something to soak up the water until it is gone unless they have an opening to pull the bulbs out of them....

really sorry to hear about the damage bro, hope everything can be fixed for minimul costs...Ive always hated it when it rains since my car sits so low and my commute to work has some HUGE water collection areas icon_neutral.gif

LOL the angel eyes stopped working cause my foglights have 1/4 inch of water pooled up in them

yeah I know whatcha mean. Well my HIDs started to work fine by the next day. And my strobe lights went back to normal also. The fog lights I just have to take 2 screws out of each and take them apart and dry them up. The car seems to be running fine again. And I am going to keep my intake short. It was too low to the ground to begin with. I was just asking for trouble anyway.

for water in the headlights or tail lights i had the same problem in my old mustang i couldnt get it out for all i was worth till i finally decided to take the smallest drill bit i had and put a hole in the bottom and let them drain after i did that i sealed them with silicon they r picture perfect now o and the worse i had with water damage was me and my friends were busting around in a civic my first car it was an 87 with a carb and i launched it into a swamp water half way up the windshield it still ran for a year after till timing belt went and shot the pistons into the valves and they blew out the exhaust biglaugh.gif biglaugh.gif biglaugh.gif
