pretty much all CAI will work the same a slong as you get a name brand and not an ebay POS

the exhaust is pretty use-dependant toward what you like. magnaflow is pretty decent and tends to give off alow growl

Thats not true. Name brand makes no difference. A CAI is just a tube designed to suck in cold air from under the car and carry it to the Intake Manifold. Ebay ones will work just as well as any name brand. BUT the type of filter you get does make a difference! THe cheap ebay CAI systems have crappy filters. So just make sure you get a K&N filter that fits your application.

Also when you get your cat-back take into account what your HP goal is. If you plan on gettting forced induction ie turbo for 300+hp then you will need a larger diameter exhaust than if your just going with your N/A set up. You won't see significant gains in HP with just those mods. You will also need to get headers and a hi-flo cat or cheater (test) pipes to maximize the air-flow. They all work together as 1 system to get the cooler air in and out as fast as possible.

I have a cherry bomb turbo muffler on my *** 4door car, it sounds pretty good, it's not raspy at all, pretty deep at low rpm.

On my 2dr saturn i'm working on, I made a 2 1/4" exhaust for it and put a "Pilot" muffler on. It's nice and deep at low rpms, but when you floor it it's raspy as hell and sounds like an *******. people on Saturn forums say to weld a glaspack a few inches after the cat to get rid of the raspyness, so i'm going to do that.

I'm debating to get a magnaflow or another chery bomb turbo muffler. I want a deep growl, not a high rasp.

Eh, it's gold, has non painted bumpers. It's realy reliable though. Got down to SC, back to pittsburgh without having to put any oil in!

It's a stick though and I like the sound of rice. The cherrybomb turbo muffler is very quite, it sounds good. I had a little glass plack on it and it was so abnoxous.

bull **** ****. clearance is off, materials arent the same, and crush bent pipes (which many include) suck in flow capacity compared to mandrel bent.

Ok here we go again..... icon_rolleyes.gif What is with all the hostility? Look the intake doesn't do much in the big picture. You want to go with one that will work with your complete performance system ie intake header exhaust test pipes etc. It is not worth spending all that money for a name brand that performs virtually the same as a generic one. The things you want to look for when getting a CAI are: velocity stack, k&n, diameter, length...remember the role of the intake: to provide head pressure to the IM..that's it.

Cheap generic CAIs and SRIs perform nearly identically to the name-brand ones (AEM, DC, Injen, etc). The only thing that changes the powerband, or peak #'s, are slight differences in diameter, the angle of the bend, and the surface area and material of the filter.

Now I agree with you that AEM and those brands will fit better than the ebay intakes, but I didn't have any problems with fitting on in my Acura. You also get a carb legal sticker with the name brands which is important if you want to pass smog here in CA. But keep in mind you are paying $200-300 more for basically a sticker.

Bottom line...get an intake with the correct diameter and the filter OF YOUR CHOICE and move on to the rest of your performance package.
