Dells '07

Since, neither Phil nor Aken has made a thread about it, I figured I'd go ahead and do it myself. From what I hear, its the weekend of May 18-20. My main question is... Is anyone from the east coast (VA, NC, SC, GA and any place in between) planning on going? I'd much rather make the 18 hour drive with a group of people rather than by myself. So let's hear it, who's planning on attending?

It's like a 2 hour drive for me from central WI, if the Park's got enough glow by then maybe I'll pop in.

Got an inferno and a bunch of cathodes that should be here by.. I think the site said Tuesday.. should be a bit brighter soon that means!

I got a question: Is Dells a meet or a competition?

I drove 1500 miles each way in 04 from Colorado, gonna fly this year though from Cali

its a meet. theres a huge classic car show that weekend during the day.

night time is for the glow meet, which afaik isnt really sponsored or sanctioned, its just a meet in the same parking lot every year.

theres actually a j-body club doing a competition, sponsored by the oz, and i think theres an "other gm vehicle" class but idk if there is a glow class specifically.

^ Well mainly if it's a comp then i will need to get things finished and perfectionized

I'll think about going, that's a longgggg drive, mainly gas is the killer. You're not bringing any cars then Phil? Or does the private Oznium jet accommodate a few vehicles?

I was planning on trying to make this one, but they stuck me on weekend check last week... blarg. Wouldn't've had to take leave either, we work 4 on/3 off in my squadron

I think I'll even try to make it....bout 1000 miles but it would be a great road trip

Road trips are great if you actually stop or detour off the freeway at times and see some sights. My cross-country drives were pretty damn boring.

i think we'll be TDY in May anyways. (For those of you non-AF [i.e. everyone] TDY is temporary duty. Similar to a cruise for the Navy [I think its a cruise, only a few weeks?])

Might be a work up, not sure about ya'll's terminology. Cruise for us is anywhere from 4 - 10 months, depending which squadron you're with.

And TAD is our temp. duty, but it's a *****... usually for a couple months, like working in the galley or the lineshack, etc.

i will be there for sure with my ufo on there baby and ALOT more stuff too that i have to order...car will be getting alot of new stuff....just landed a killer job with great hours and pay so ya MORE PARTS BABY

Ok, its TAD then. I thought cruise was shorter than going "under way". Apparently they're the same thing and from what I hear, "It's not *** if you're under way". Confirmation?

Damn, when we go TAD its usually for cool ****, like range coaching, PMI billets, shooting matches, and additional schools. We have plenty of boots to clean the ****. I hadn't even considered it, but we're gonna be having Field Exercises pretty much every month until we deploy. Hope it doesn't fall on that weekend.

I can neither confirm or deny the fact that we may or may not be dropping some live bombs. Going to be hell for my job. If I even get to go. My shop likes to **** me out of going on TDY's (I've been here a year and still haven't gone anywhere TDY). So ****....
