ok now that i understand the whole led thing i got an idea. Now this i might try somewhere in the future or anyof you could try it. I call it the poor mans LED tube. Some people want LED bars, and i personally would want a customized one where i could put colors wherever i want. I could just get apiece of plexiglass a sheet mind u and use the LED holders i keep talking about and drill holes in the plexiglass and put the LED holders in those holes and u could arrange the leds in whatever manner you would like. then go out and buy a round tube from like a hardware store and gle the pluexi glass in mabye. what would be the best way to connect all of them[/b]

best way is in series, and put each set of series in parallel.

I've done that a while back and it works ok, best thing though is a commercial tube because they are much more foolproof.

i have been searching for cheap LED holders that can hold multiple LEDs in a row. once u get something like that its easy. i think pending on how many i want.wire them in parallel u think? like do it so it gets to about 12 volts of usage, and do that over and over and connect all the wires in the end? hmmmm i think me know what im gonna do lol... this is a good method if you want the LEDS in a certain order

why not buy an already made light bar from the Fusion Glow kit, and then you can change colors on a whim, and it cost you about the same price.. I mean think about it..

Lets say you decide you want to make a 15 inch tube, all single color (because we don't know how much the Multicolor capable LEDs/the IC's would cost)... On this site it costs $33. Based on the picture on the site, the LED bars have 1 LED every inch. So for a 15 inch bar you will need the following:

15 - LEDs = $15
Plexiglass (bought in sheets for a crap load of money)
15 - LED holders (sell for about $1.50 each) = $22.50
Plexiglass or similiar tube (if you can find it, probably costs a crap load of money).

Now just in the LED's and the LED holders, you are at $37.50 which is $4.50 above cost for the stick. That's not including the Plexiglass which costs a fortune, and the Tube which you will have a hard time finding one, let alone one that is durable and can take a beating like rocks kicking up from tires etc..

Then include how much time/labor you will have to put into it, and the wiring you will need to do it with... You've wasted a bunch of your time. Just buy a stick and be happy with it, or if you really want to do multicolors and have them all on at once, buy an already made stick, open it up, and change the LED's out to the desired colors.

If you want a pair of sticks that are red/white back and forth, just buy 1 red stick and 1 white stick, open them both up, and alternate the LED's between eachother. Lot less labor, a lot cheapers.
