I have seen a few of them but I am still confuzzled.
can anyone who knows how to make one do so? r if you find one that is all complete give me the link. I am a visual learner so a diagram that displays wires not words is the best thanks in advance crazy |

That diagram? What are you confused about? I just didn't like how much it clicked so I talked to some other guys and got something else design.... more info later. |

since this is going in my room any possible way to get the same effect with less noise is definately better.
hit me up on aim...I am definately interested in talking more. also, the link didn't work |

page works for me. I'll draw a diagram, etc. after I get a lot more testing done. I've still only played w/ it a little. (damn college allows for no time for fun projects)

Ok it works now...I have seen it but I am still not positive on how everything will play out. I have a 12 day break comming up so I will see if I can make some nice comp. diagrams and send them to you.
as for the testing if you draw out your ideas and send them to me I will be willing to test some also...granted I need to buy all my LEDs, cathodes, neons and MI first. my main problem is that the designs for my model car display car are really good but I dont have the 320 or so that I will need to buy everything, I hope santa is really nice this year |

here we go!
except for the fact that I left out 3 sets of 8 LED's this should be what my wiring looks like. granted those of you with more knowlegdge than me say that everything will work.

a little confused about what you have here, but it seems the little green switch is a toggle switch, and you want to be able to toggle between music control and standard on? why do you have negative going into the switch? or do you want one light to blink with the bass, one one to blink inverse of that? |

forgive my noobness, but what does a 5 pin relay do?

The ground going to the switches is because he has light up switches, so the switches need a ground for them to light up with.
The part I don't understand is what the black and gray box is supposed to be.. Are those Relays? They looks kinda strange.. And if you were using a relay to turn on and off your tubes and such to the sound, that relay is gonna be clicking on and off a LOT... I'd think the Cathodes wouldn't like that too much, not to mention, can the relay really keep up with that kind of abuse? I've never setup a relay before where it's constantly being flipped on and off every half a second... |

the life of a relay is defined as on/off cycles... this would KILL the lifespan of one quickly. got the light up switches ideal...
i think i see now... he wants music interface available, but also a constant on when he wants too... at least that's what this would do. why 2 relays? do they both power simultaneously? if so only one is needed. if you want an on/off relay setup, so the lights blink inverse of eachother, then you need a diode to restrict the flow one way because the blue and pink wires on each large neon and each set of leds lights... will both power both lights. |

I have been talking with Brandon about some stuff and he had a new idea to use transistors (sp?) instead of a realy because they are silent. so to answer your question the gray and black boxes are transistors.
yes the switches are grounded because I would like to have lit switches. the switches are there because with the MI off I can turn each set of lights on individually. which I really want to be able to do. with the switches off I am free to use the MI. SuBXeRo a 5 pin relay allows one set of lights to go on as the beat of the music goes up and the other to go on while the beat goes down. so basicly if you played a song with a constant thumping and thats it the lights would just flip back and fourth. also a 5 pin set up allows 30 amps of neons to be run off of a MI instead of about 6amps the lights flipping back and forth is what I want...the only problem with a 5 pin relay is that it clicks like mad. and since this setup is going in my room I would like it to be silent. So should I not use cathodes with a MI???? has anyone tried this? results? will I blow the thodes or the transformer??? I want all the pink to come on at once and all the blue to come on at once

ahh thankyou, so is this the ghetto way to do it instead of buying sumthing to make the lights do that?

right now as you have it, when the power comes on from the blue wire, both large neons, and all led's will come on. same as with the pink power wire. so it won't work as you have it becuase the power from the blue wire would "bleed" thru to the other. you need an inline diode to handle this. Transistors would work much better, becuase they are doide like and have no moving parts... just moving electrons to controll the on/off. a relay is a motor that moves... hence the clicking.
if you are using cathodes, expect to get a few monts at most out of them like this... if it works at all.. i beleive there is a power on time for these, although slight, it won't be enough for the music controller. |

Neons have the same timer too don't they? I think Cathodes are a bad choice for this scenario. Just use a buncha LEDs. Most chemical reaction based things such as neons and such have a power up time. I'm not sure exactly how cathodes work, but I do know they require a jump in voltage to get them ignited before they go back down. I think you'd kill your transformer real fast if it does work.

ADDICTED2ICELED: you are correct I would need diodes on each side of the output on the switch, after the wire is split.
I have talked with a few people about using thodes and neons with a MI and they said it would be fine to do. As my plans evolve I am considering removing the neons (cost) and getting more LEDs to act as spot lights. I would really like something other than LED's in there but I am still undecided. ALSO, how do I get plexi to light up?? do I need to put a LED into the plexi or just shine at it?? |

I looked at my diagrams again and I think I might have told you wrong ont he pins/colors
from the picture I gave you, it should go as follows: green wire: MI (-)/Trigger black wire: Constant 12v+ (master kill switch) red wire: "Normally Closed" neons blue wire: "Normally opened" neons |
