ha ha ha, I'm still laughing at what happend to me on my way to work tonight..

check this out, I was driving to work tonight obaying all traffic laws (speed limit, seat belt, signaling while changing lanes etc.) with my glow on of course ozzy_change.gif (my wheel wells and recently lit door handles, and interior lit of course) becaues here in Las Vegas NV it's not illegal to have those things lit.
only things like your head lights and the lights on the license plate of which I have not lit either.

you see, I have done my home work and have read all the NRS codes (laws in NV) that have to do with lighting and actually have them printed out and in my glove compartment for just a special occasion like this.

so anyways I got pulled over and the cop says "license and registration (I grabbed them) the reason I pulled you over was because of your lights" I quickly responded their not illegal icon_mad.gif (but not trying to be a ****, as I reached for the NRS codes in my glove box)

I flipped through all 25 - 30 pages as I told him "I've read all the NRS codes on lighting and this is them (showing him the booklet I printed biglaugh.gif lol), and I didnt see anything in here about it being illegal to have lights mounted where I have mine"

all of the sudden he started to stutter and said "Oh uhh, well uhh, you know its just that uhh, theres people that are color blind"

I cut him off right there and said "Color blind?? well they check that at the DMV and people who are color blind shouldnt be driving cars"

then he got this really nervous and confused look on his face and said "Uhh, well, the reason I pulled you over was because these cars are really easy to steal and I just wanted to make sure you had your paper work together (License, Registration, Insurance) " which I did biglaugh.gif . and then he said well I'm just gonna go run your name.

so he comes back and says "Ok well Uhh, I'm not going to give you a ticket for the lights" I said "I know biglaugh.gif " then he says " but I would suggest you keep them off until you got to where your going or if your in a car show. or when your picking up the girls"

I said "but that defeats the whole purpose of me having them on in the first place"

he says " I mean, they look nice and all but they are kind of bright you know? (whoo hoo biglaugh.gif ) I was young once too and I would have liked somehing like this when I was your age, but like I said its just a suggestion, you dont have to listen to me though, its up to you what you do when you drive off" icon_wink.gif so I got my license and Insurance back, told him ok have a good night sir.

Turned my glow back on and drove off LMAO biglaugh.gif .

I have Oz to thank for making that possible, I got the link for the NRS codes while surfing through one of the posts in this forum and once I saw it was leagal in my town for certain things, I printed them out and kept them in my car, so thank you Oznium ozzy_change.gif for making that possible and thank all of you too.
pretty cool huh??

I usually get a ticket when I'm stopped, this time I flipped the script and had the cop nervous ha ha ha ha.

That's great, see it's nice you were prepared and did your homework. icon_cool.gif That's awesome that you can get away with pretty much any lighting you want in your state too. icon_smile.gif

As long as you don't go out of your way to **** the cops off, they've got more interesting things to chase.

That (my bio teacher was color blind and he drove) tipped me off, and the whole thing about the cop being over-appreciative of his lights, as well.

you know what I thought about it... but then I started thinking, its not illegal and I'm not doing anything wrong... on top of that I wasnt being rude or snotty or acting like a **** or anything..

and plus, he wasn't being honest with me..
first he said he pulled me over because of my lights,
then it was the lights because of color blind people,
then it was because my car is suppossedly easy to steal and he just wanted
to make sure I was the owner..

I mean come on now.. at least tell the truth you know??
its just that he slipped up and when I pulled the NRS codes out on his ass he was dumb founded because he thought I was just some punk kid (I'm 25 by the way and very mature IMO) and he wasn't expecting me to have been so informed.. icon_biggrin.gif

but thats cool.. at least I got no ticket, thats all I care about.. that and the fact that glow on certain parts of your car in my city is legal.. that kicks a whole lot of ass. biglaugh.gif

How can they tell the difference between hwy signs and construction signs quickly??
obviously not by color if they are color blind..

but of course they are going to know what the sign is saying as long as they know how to read.. but you know what I'm saying??
how are they to know when the red and blue lights are flashing behind them??

its just kind of a hazzard for them to be behind the wheel.. I will look more into that and post it, once i'm 100 percent sure.

he really did make those comments, I have no reason to tell lies/stories..

he really did seem like a nice guy.. I never said he wasn't. he was just unsure of himself.

Even if you didn't have the stuff printed out, what could he have ticketed you for... don't they have to have a specific code violation on the ticket? I mean if you were ticketed for something that was legal, wouldn't you just take it to court and point out that there wasn't a violation?

Colorblind people aren't normally colorblind like rainbow colors, they don't see a green light and it come out red one time, blue the next, and yellow a third time. It's constant.

They can still drive, they just learn things differently... when one person sees green, and a colorblind person sees purple (for example). They would have either always learned it that way and just known purple as green, or they just have to remember that purple means go...

Does that make sense?

Yeah i was always under that understanding. That colorblind people more less just saw something else because they didn't see the normal or true color of what is being show.

Who really see's what a color "truly" is?

Anyway- My bio teacher used to mix up his greens, reds, blues, etc.., not that big of a deal, he just saw something different. And in case you were unsure- they make signs different SHAPES because not everyone can perceive color.

It would be discrimination to not allow people to drive who are color blind- we're putting hand controls in FULL SIZE van's for handicap people for christs sake, a person with limited mobility is a much bigger hazard on the road than a person who can't tell the difference between fuschia and magenta, get your head out of your ass.

I agree with DJ. I may be wrong but wouldn't be the same anyways. As long as they were taught the same things as us, (where the brake lights are, lights locations and such,) just different things like that would be taught to be viewed the same just in a different way. As for myself and i hope no one takes this offensively is the aging population driving. So many of these older people drive the biggest car possible and can't drive it. Those people are dangerous to me you can never predict what they are going to do like you can with so many other drivers out there.

There are various forms of Color Blindness,I'm actually color blind and so are a few of my male family members, all of which safely operate motor vehicles. The type of color blindness that I have allows me to see pretty much the entire color spectrum, only certain colors will appear different to me. puppy_dog_eyes.gif icon_smile.gif

I have never had that problem so I didnt know (Dj icon_mad.gif )..

Don't make ill-informed accusations about people with a handicap (color blindness) and then say your head isn't in your ass, because that is EXACTLY what it means.

You just admitted that you never even thought about how these people see things differently, so who qualified you to say they can't drive on the road?
