My car has very little power below the 3000 RPM mark. What is the best way to improve the power for under $350 or a little more.

lol Lowend?

You need more torque...chips, programmers, exhaust, gears, etc...

do some research...

You drive a pontiac - so no its impossible :-P

Stickers help - especially a big fat Oznium.com decal across the windshield...

would someone take this serious. omfg. Im pulling the engine next year and doing some work since GM has the piston problem on the 3.1 and 3.4
My plans for the next year is to have the pistons bored out and get some higher compression pistons. Try to find a new crank shaft then get a ECU chip. i was also going to do some exaust work but that doesnt help the lower RPM power when there is less back pressure.

wow. I would like a different engine but the changing of mounting brakets and computers would just be one hell of a pain in the ass.

Depends on your exhaust setup.....short tube headers give more high end power while long tube headers provide more low end grunt.

you can get really good low end electronically such as chip and power programmers. Venom 400 is quite nice from experience

I don't know pontiac's or GM's all to well, however I agree with the post above saying you should def. do some research and figure out what you want for your specific application.

Generally tho, stiffer (or solid) motor mounts will give you a smoother, nicer launch and cut down on the amount of wheel-hop that most FWD's suffer. Also, do you homework before throwing a bigger cam in there as you may up your top end speed, but hurt your low end in the process.

I'm sure there are tons of Pontiac / GM Performance forums & sites out there tho. have fun with it, man icon_biggrin.gif .

if you're just looking for a better launch, etc. when driving, weight reduction can make a huge difference. A guy w/ a mx-3 stipped a lot of stuff and I think he lost over a hundred pounds and the car looks very awesome still and stock. No racing seats or anything like that.

the pistons go inside the cylinders. you bore the cylinders out and get bigger pistons.

exactly what engine do you have?

if its the 3100 you already have plenty of torque. if your looking for low end, keep the exhaust stock and the airbox stock, just drop a K&N filter in. take out your catalytic converter if you can (or get a high flow cat, removing it alltogether will produce better results)

if you put a more open exhaust on, you will notice a loss in torque and a small gain in topend, like i did with my 3.1, which had plenty of torque, well, enough to fry the tranny icon_biggrin.gif

edit

i just read everything over again, and i was not aware of the piston problem in the 3x00 engines, so it must be just your engine. as for now, go to www.fastfwdperformance.com and get their chip and UD pulley, thats under 350 bucks, and get a K&N DROP IN!!! (stock size replacement) filter! and you might notice a small difference in torque, but really, there is pretty much NO aftermarket for the 60*v6 engines, no headers, no intakes (only ported&polished, no alum. or other fancy intakes) no CAI's, no nothing pretty much, not for bolt ons. if you have your engine out, id put a cam in it if you have it torn apart, then you would notice an increase in torque, not a big one but youll notice. and again, your engine has plenty of torque so i dont know why you would need more

well technically you could bore out a piston, it would be on the inside like if you wanted lighter weight pistons, it wouldnt really be boring out, just removing material, but generally thats a bad idea
