and someone said if i do this that i would have to change the pos/neg wiring.

meaning, i would have to connect the neg wire to the posi input and vise-versa. in order to get a clean sound and not do any damage to the woofer or box.

is that true?

It will minimally change the volume of the box, but it wont damage the speakers or anything.

Should be no difference in sound either, besides the minimal amount of increased volume in the box.

The wirings been debated for a LOOONG time ,
IF you reverse the wiring the woofer is pulled backwards towards the coil
While if you leave it ,it is pushed into the box ...
I've done them both ways ... Ported boxes normally sound better left alone , sealed boxes it's a toss up, I've seen them sound great left alone ,and had them sound bad until reversed
On some sealed boxes you might need to add polyfill to the box to take up the volume of the woofer for correct size

ok, can you explain EXACTLY the whole reverse wiring thing.

are the wires reversed going into the woofers, or are they reversed going into the amp?

The wires from the amp to the woofers would be reversed (DO NOT REVERSE THE AMP POWER WIRES). You could either reverse them at the woofer terminals or reverse them at the channel output.

All you are doing when you're flipping the wires is changing the phase by 180*. A lot of amps actually have a phase switch on them. This switch does the same thing as flipping the wires.

There's no right or wrong answer to flipping them or leaving them alone. It's VERY specific to each setup. All you can do is listen to it normal, flip the wires, listen to it w/ them flipped, and choose the one that sounds the best.

If you want it to sound as close as possible to the "normal" configuration then find out the volume of the woofers. Cut some bracing of equal volume to the speakers and add internal bracing. Although, I highly doubt you're going to notice the difference in space.

A lot of headunits/sources will also provide this function even if your amp does not.

ok so i did it and they sound fine.
the ONLY thing is that they dont sound too good when my hatch is open.
but thats fine, i dont plan on putting this thing in any sound offs or anything.

but i mean they do sound fine from inside, and m headunit does have a reverse function so i just switched it to reverse.

ill take a pic and show you guys how it looks later today.

Yeah and also if your subs have a vented pole piece,it can help to somewhat cool the voice coil. icon_cool.gif
