Looking into doing an overhaul on my truck before winter. That includes a 3" body lift, 35" tires and 20" wheels, new tails(check), cleared bumper lights, new gauges (on the way) and now i'm looking into shaving some of the side chrome moldings off. But after a few paint experiments I really can't decide if I should keep some stuff on or not.
So here are 3 quick paint chops, they are not good at all, but they give you an idea. To me, #1 doesn't look bad, #2 looks good because of the other chrome accents on the truck and #3 looks very clean and efficient. Vote on which one looks best and why. Feel free to save them to your desktop and then scroll through them, I thought that was the best way to really see differences and compare #1 Nothing shaved
#2 Bottom chrome shaved
#3 Everything shaved *If I choose this route, the handle will probably be color matched or bezel matched with chrome pull

#3 - Everything. Chrome is ugly.

2 or 3. Its kind of hard to decide. A little bit of chrome isn't bad.

Between the bumper, wheels, and door handles... he's got more than enough (in my opinion)

To much chrome is gaudy. But I still stick with my choices 2 or 3.

i like both 2 and 3 tbh. If you had a chrome step i would say def keep the the chrome strip but since it doesnt look like you do, chromeless wouldnt be too shabby of a look!

^ On that note, the nerf bars may or may not be on. Wife says I need to keep them so she can get in
Here are the chops with the nerf bars on:

Option 3 if you paint the nerf bars black.
Option 2 if you leave them chrome. |

I like the way it looks now with the exception of the mirrors/door handles.. I would paint them regardless if you keep the rest or not.
Have you considered the bumpers? I say if you do take it all away color match the bumpers too, otherwise the truck would look un balanced when viewed from the side, the way it is now the chrome rockers balance is out alot. |

Number 2. Unless you color match the bumpers then I'd go with 3

I usually try not to wander to the legs because then it just gets a little ***. Just keep it to the main areas.

Well thanks for the responses so far. I see what the consensus is so far. It was my first choice as well (#3). I'm going to try and tackle this project today, body shop wants $250 to remove it all

After about 6 hours spread over 2 days the rocker panel chrome (bottom stuff) is completely gone. Moving on to the trim next, hoping that will be an easier task
