Is a ground wire just a loose wire hanging there? or does it have to go somewhere. From all the diagrams i have seen it just shows it hanging there i am just wondering if that is infact all u have to do or it has to go somewhere. Thank you

It seems likes its hanging there but its actually supposed to be hookep up to bare metal. Usually looks like a triangle with lines going across on a wiring diagram. Im sure someone else here will go into more detail on this. But, no..its not supposed to just "hang" there. Very important wire.

Thanks for the site i briefly skimmed through it ill read more in depth once i get home. But basically all i have to do is put the ground wire to the chassis or another bare metal surface? also how do i attach the ground to the metal? solder? sorry for the newb questions but i am very new to this.

ring terminal and screw, or find a bolt and use a spade terminal. It doesn't matter too much as long as it's a good connection.
