Question
Are the rope lights dimmable? If so, do you sell a dimmer switch for them?
Answer
Since they are 110v, I imagine a standard wall dimmer switch from Home Depot would work. But we haven't tried yet.
Question
I have a Ford F150 custom van we are redesigning that will require a rope light to outline the peremeter of the van. I this product acceptable for this project? It would require approx. 50 ft per side. I have a inverter if neccessary. - by Lee (Lowndesboro, AL, USA)
Answer
Robe lighting could work for accent lighting, but it's not going to be bright enough to see anything inside. I'd use the Flex Strips or the Ribbon Strips.
Question
Can you recommend any special brackets to attach to vinyl siding?
Answer
3M Tape, maybe?
Question
What would be the best way to affix this product to a non-porous metal surface? Would double-stick tape work?
Answer
This product is a whole lot heavier than out normal LED Light strips.
DS tape would probably not be strong enough, try looking for some kind of mounting bracket.

Question
Can you splice in the middle of a led rope light? Like to Turn the rope at a 90 degree and splice straight up - by steve (altoona)
Answer
Hi - You can bend the LED Rope Light to your heart's desire, but since these run on 110V AC current, which can electrocute (unlike 12V DC), we do not suggest splicing them and reconnecting them to avoid any problems. You should be able to use these for your application and able to bend them, without splicing!
Question
Can LED rope be recessed in a (hardwood) floor channel? If so, what are the recommended dimensions of the channel?
Answer
25mm or .96 inches tall and 14mm or.57 inches wide.
These are the dimensions of the Rope Lite.
You'll have to figure out what the size of the channel but basically 1" x .50" channel.

Question
I came second a few years ago in an inventions competition with my suggestion for LEDs on tent guy ropes after seeing how many people trip over them at campsites, festivals and the like. The idea was to have them flash occasionally (to save energy) and run on a battery pack. The lengths would only be short pieces of 2-3 feet. Would these be able to do that? - by Martin (Kenya)
Answer
Yes, these are able to be flashed, but as you know, they only run on 110V AC.
If you can place a large order, we'd be happy to redesign them to run on a battery pack.

Question
Can I purchase a controller that will blend and cycle the rgb rope light? - by Scott
Answer
We currently don't offer RGB in this product. Please check back in a few months.
Question
Is it possible to attach these to a battery pack?
Answer
These lights are designed for 110V AC home use. If you have a battery pack that can support that current, then sure.
Question
My daughter wants rope lights for her room. Are the lights good to go or do I need any special accessories?
Answer
If you want one single color, you'll need to purchase a splice connector, end cap, and power plug. If you don't want the hassle, you can get the 6 meter sample and have all the colors in one strip.
Question
How are these for outdoor use? We could use these on our porch, if they're reasonably moisture-resistant.
Answer
The rope lights are waterproof. Just make sure all the end caps are secure. Maybe add a dabs of silicone on the end cap just to be safe.
Question
Can I get this product in a clear flex tube instead of frosted? - by Aaron (california)
Answer
Sorry we do not have it in a clear tube. The reason we have the frosted is so the light disperses better in the tube, and provides a more even glow instead of the dots, as shown in the example photo on the page. We think it's better that way. =)
Question
Do you have fasteners for attaching 'rope-lights'? - by Joseph (Harrisburg, PA)
Answer
No

Sure, we can easily make a 12V version.
Question
Do you need to purchase an end cap and power plug for each length, or are those provided?
Is there a limit on how far you can extend things with splices? Running these on 120V means current will be really low... - by Warren
Is there a limit on how far you can extend things with splices? Running these on 120V means current will be really low... - by Warren
Answer
Suppose you wanted a solid run of 30 meters: You'd order a quantity of 30 for the LED rope light. You'd order a quantity of 1 for the power plug, and a quantity of 1 for the end cap.
I don't know the exact limit for a single run. It is probably somewhere around 250 meters.

Question
How thick is the rope? One inch, half inch? Also what is the smallest radius they can safely accomodate when bending?
Answer
The LED Rope Lights are 1/2" wide by 1" tall. When flexing the LED Rope Lights, the smallest diameter possible is about 2". Yep, they're really flexible!
Question
If they are left on will they heat up?
Answer
They put out a very small amount of heat - nothing to worry about! There is no comparison to old school rope lights which put out a ton of heat. These LED rope lights are very efficient.
Question
Is there any danger in handling these rope lights?
Answer
Since the wires inside the rope lights carry 110 volts, you must be careful to not touch those wires when splicing and reconnecting lengths of this product. The best policy is to make sure you unplug the rope lights when splicing, cutting, adding to, or changing their configuration.
Question
Do these run on 110 volts AC or 12 volts DC?
Answer
The LED Rope Light runs on 110 volts AC (any standard US wall outlet).
