Question
Do I need a PWM dimmer to dim these? Or can I just use any type of potentiometer?

PWM is best. You can try a pot and see what happens.

Yes!
Question
Which wire is hte pos and which is the negative? theyre both silver and the only diffrerence is one has little brandings on it so im unclear as to which to connect to where - by jonathan

Try it one way. If it doesn't work, flip it around and try it the other way.

Do you have to hook up both ends of the Piranha bar?
Answer
No
Question
Do these have 3M tape on the back for mounting them?

These do not have 3M but they have mounting clips. The tube is circular making 3M difficult to apply
Question
What is the MCD of the blue - by Michael (Warrensburg, MO)
Answer
580mcd
Question
Are these brighter than the cathode tubes - by Charlie (Moorpark, CA)
Answer
They are very bright. It is a different type of product, so it is hard to compare brightness because cathodes have a 360 degree viewing angle and Piranha Bars have light coming from one side.
Question
Are these brighter than the ribbon led strips? - by Jordan (East Moline, IL)
Answer
Yes
Question
I got my 3 Piranha Bar lights today. I am wondering they all have 2 ends to join in series but I want to cut the connector from the last one so I can use it on the first one to wire to the junction box... does it matter which end I cut off? also on the junction box it comes with the plug with cut wires exposed... which one is the power and which is ground? solid black or the one with white stripe on it? thanks... - by Mike (Sarasota, FL)
Answer
Sure, you can certainly cut the Piranha bar wire. It does not matter which side you cut.

Also for the polarity, it doesn't matter if you have it backwards. It won't damage anything. Simply flip it around if it doesn't light up.
Question
I plan on buying 11 of these for a UB kit. 3 on each side and 2 in the front and rear and then 1 for the grill. The 3 on the sides will they give me a spotty glow or just an insanely bright even filled glow? - by Ryan (Philadelphia, PA)
Answer
It will give an insanely bright even filled glow.
Question

Answer
Yes
Question
I see these are recommended for architectural applications too, what kind of steps would I need to take to be able to plug this into a standard power outlet. - by Paul (Canada)
Answer
You can plug them into a junction box or directly into our 12v adapters.
Question
I'm looking to light up my engine bay, would one of these or a high intensity led flood light be better? - by Jordan (East Moline, IL)
Answer
It depends on where you want to mount it from and the space you have available.
Question
I'm thinking of making my own underglow kit.
Are these brighter then the beefy leds and/or Flex leds or both? - by Sam (Miami, FL)
Answer
They are about the same brightness. For making your own underbody kit, I'd suggest the SMD Bars since they have a very low profile and are waterproof.
Question
Will I get more lumens from 3-white bars or 1-each of a red, green and blue??
Answer
You'll get more lumens and better results from 3-white bars.

While in theory, the 1-each of red, green, and blue will produce a white color, you'll have trouble with "shadows" since the light source of each color is a few inches apart.
Question
How is the reliability of the leds on these? I have bought a few of the flexible led strips and I keep having problems with them going out. Also, to waterproof, do you need to silicone just where the wire goes in or all around the plastic end? - by Robert (Henderson, NV)
Answer
We have never had any problems with this product.
Question
Is the bar flexible - by Carl (Dover Oh.)
Answer
No
Question
are these water proof? if not how can i water proof them?
Answer
They are not waterproof. You can waterproof them by adding silicone to both ends.
Question
If the lights are too bright, is there a dimmer made for them? - by TERRY (WHITNEY TEXAS)
Answer
You can use a simple potentiometer available at any decent electronics store.
Question
What do I need to regulate them, to flash or cycle in a pattern?
Answer
You'd need some sort of 12v flasher for them to flash. They can't do patterns unless you take it apart and reconfigure the way it's wired, as it is currently set up for the whole bar to go on/off.
Question
How bright are these LED's? I need to replace my blue lights for my POv on the fire dept. Also would there be any problems using a flasher unit on these? - by Bob (Ash Grove, Mo.)
Answer
Very bright. No, no problems hooking up to a flasher unit.
Question
How exactly do I hook them up? Is it the same way as the flex strips?
Answer
Yup, standard 12v two-wire hookup.
Question
Can the Piranha Bar be cut?
Answer
Absolutely! They can be cut every 2 inches (or 3 LEDs).
