What are the differences between 3mm and 5mm LEDs?

Ok this may be a stupid question but what are the differences (if any) between the 3mm and 5mm LEDs other than simply the size?

Brightness and size. I believe the 5mm is brighter than the 3mm.

5mm are brighter and have a larger viewing angle. And they're bigger.

hey guys on these prewired leds, you can just hook them straight up to the 12 v in the car? since it already has the resistor right????
