I'm planning on installing 5mm LEDs in my air vents this weekend. Anyone have any ideas on Scion TC install? Looks like I may just be able to remove the vents themselves... or am I going to have to take out the whole dash? I saw a DIY for a Civic, but how different is a TC?

Scion folks???

Wires are traditionally run behind plastic shrouds or along pre-existing wiring - basically anywhere hidden where they won't rub. Not sure what the inside of TC looks like but a wire's a wire - the thing you have to be careful of is pinching or rubbing.

First, which air vents are you doing?

Second, if you're doing the main driver/passenger ones they're pretty easy to access. For the driver side, pull out the piece to access the fuse box. Then just kind of reach up there and pull the vent cover out. Similalry, pull off the glove box, reach up to the passenger side vent and pop it off. You should be able to manuever your way in there.

^ Exactly what he said.
For the center, much easier, just pull off the piece around the shifter, then the piece around the radio (door closed). You'll see the vent up at the top, just run the LEDs up into there and secure them in there with some tape.

Yeah thanks- I actually ended up finding this as well after some searching:

Thanks for the input- seems simple enough, I spoke to a bunch of folks who told me about full dash removal and freaked- not in the mood to do that this Saturday. This will make it much easier.... Thanks again. I'll post once everything is in.

I ran my LEDs into the vents in between the vent and the actual ducting then wired them into the lighting circuit that come on when you turn on fogs/h-lights. Same one that turns on your instrument (radio, AC control) back lighting.
