If anyone can supply a diagram for the new knight rider scanner (the one on te mustang shown below) I will be in your debt for many moons.

raw LEDs:

I can build the light bar itself. but i have NO idea how do to the circuitry. I only want the lights to do this pattern (nothing else special)

The goal is to install 2 scanners in the (one in each grille area)

I think the circuitry is a proprietary design. You can try hitting up Pierre with Autoi though.

I did. It seems a few people have figured it out though. I've seen a couple of youtube vids of people with mustang KR scanners in smaller versions.

The AutoI videos look like they have very rigid transitions . Not smooth at all . For the time and the money they probably put into pieceing that together I'd be a little disappointed .

Gentleman, I have a quick fix solution: The Sho-Me 11.1025.008 rotary 8 channel LED flasher has a scan pattern similar to what we seek. By using capacitors, one can get the "comet tail" effect.

you can see it here:

look at the 0:15 sec mark.

I have decided not to go with the scanner idea on this car. I'm waiting to do it right... on a 09 Camero!!
