Ok so basically, the guy turned his black coupe 3 series BMW into white by using a special tape. Apparently it's called foiling, and I'm amazed how well it turned out...

I'm amazed how well it came out...

Whoa!

Sounds too good to be true. I wonder if it damages the paint underneath in any way?

It actually says it will protect it. Can stay on for 3-4 years, and can even withstand an automatic car wash...

yeah thats sweet but IMO black and white would be the only colors you could do that with cuz lets say you have a blue car and wanna go red your engine bay will still be blue and well as your door caps and things like that but still i like it and would really wanna do that with the 240 in red from the windows down and black on top puppy_dog_eyes.gif

Looks cool? Yes. Worth it? Eh.

After reading some of the comments it is goin to cost you around 2-7k to have you car wrapped depeding on color and such. For that much you could have your car completely resprayed. This stuff supposedly is very hard to keep clean and in person apparently it doesn't have the same gloss level. And when you get rock chips. What are you going to do rewrap the whole front bumper? Pay another couple hundred to have it rewraped. As that tape isn't goin to be nearly as strong as a high quality clear coat so if rocks can chip through clear and base imagine how fast it would destroy tape. Cool but not worth that kinda cash imo.

I work at an Ace Hardware and we build Weber grills all the time... It looks exactly like the stuff they put on the stainless steel parts of the grills to protect it. Cool thought how he used it to change his car color... Never would of thought. It seems unreal tho.

Would work well if you're planning on committing crimes. Run, hide, un-wrap.

similar to that movie Taxi or whatever with the hot chicks in the Bimmer 740/50

This is probably a hoax, I bet they just changed out all the body panels instead of actually applying the tape

not a hoax....go get your goodies now.. biglaugh.gif

Looks like an interesting way of doing things. I would do it just for kicks. And korn, doesn't paint do the same way? Color and such will determine price?

I personally wouldn't care about the gloss level. IF i had the time and place my car would be flat black already.
