i used to have a built to spec mdf box for my two 12's
and then i built this box and they do sound better and hit harder.
makes a world of a difference to me, i dont know if i would even go back to a mdf box ha.

fiberglass is easier to work with and adding a couple of extra layers makes it just as strong as carbon fiber, and a heck of alot cheaper....
i prefer fiberglass boxes over carbon fiber boxes...

and dont really know how much i would sell for
what do yall think is a decent price?
and i could do it in like 3 days..

here is a day time shot of it

depending on the size it can vary alot
a box like mine with 2 12's costs about 80-100 bucks in materials...depending on what you already have....
and once you start going its not that bad
just sucks waiting between layers for cure time...

first you mount the rings where you want them ( i use skinny dowle rods which you later knock out)
and stretch some fleece over it tightly to get the shape.
then apply resin to harden it and then start fiberglassing.
once you get enough layers on, then you put very thin layers of bondo on it to smooth it all out and then ready for paint... unless you want to carpet it or another material(suede looks sweet)

and you are ready to go ha.

theres alot of good tutorials online you could look at if its your first time.

and if you guys are interested i might do a detailed walk through with pics and stuff on the next one i build icon_wink.gif

So far it's looking great Mrkai, but I do think you could use some more green. You should add green l.e.d.s to your interior door handles and those map pockets. icon_cool.gif

If you can do boxes to go in either corner of the trunk of a 00+ Neon..... And did it in CF finish!?!?!??!?!?!?! Oh man oh man oh man! I think I'd give you my first born child. Either way I'm looking for someone to do an affordable version of what I'm asking for here either in fiberglass or CF. If you did them in fiberglass I guarantee you could sell a couple sets on SRTforums or ebay.

sweet.
its definitely doable
to get that seamless carbon finish, its really hard to buy big pieces of it at good prices (so there are no seams and you pretty much have to have a machine to do the overlaying or be super good at what you are doing because you have to overlay and fill in spots which ruins the appearance, this is why i painted mine ha
laying suede or something else like unique autosports does always look nice too

but fiberglass is much for cost effective for essentially the same product.

but i love doing corner pieces marakka

i will have to get back to you guys soon after i get going with school next week and ordering some products biglaugh.gif

Honestly thats what I want. I want a pair of 12's .... one in each corner. That way I can stuff my air ride in the back of the trunk and have the front open for amp rack and possibly NOS later.

I think I'll end up trying my hand at it before you get around to doing it in all honesty. I'm bored as all get out usually..... so I think that'll happen first.

unless you just want two small boxes to like sit in the corners
