Had a sore throat last week, and caught a cold, but someone recommended Zicam. Took the cherry tablets, and they really did wonders.

Normally, I'd be just miserable, letting the cold run its course.

But the Zicam tablets were amazing. Sped up the recovery to like 3 days, and made things quite comfortable.

I'd stay away from the spray version though, as I've heard they could cause permanent loss of smell.

Anyone else use these?

Yeah, I take the Orange tablets when I feel a cold coming on. Great stuff. Also recommend taking Vitamin C pills too. That really shortens the life of your cold.

Personally, I drink a lot of orange juice (Vitamin C) and take concentrated Garlic pills when I feel a cold coming on... They both boost your immune system.

Newsweek ran an article on clinical trials with common OTC cold remedies . Zinc supplements like Zicam were shown to give results statistically identical to placebo . In other words, there's no evidence it does anything . icon_surprised.gif Doses of Vitamin C over 200mg/day were shown to reduce the duration of symptoms, but only by 8% compared to the groups not taking vitamin C .

Nothing works better than some hot Chicken noodle soup, crackers, some orange juice, and laying on the couch all day watching tv while taking naps.

I never get sick or I might get the opportunity to try them.

I found that after working at a Hospital and in the jail my immune system has been boosted that I rarely catch colds anymore...I typically do the normal Dayquil/Nyquil routine....I used to get sick quite often when I first started at the hospital...

I have tried the Zicam stuff that goes in your nose...worked great once for a plugged nose...didnt work the other times.

I don't really get sick anymore either icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif Every once in a while I do, but not much for how much crap I'm exposed to. I went to work with the Flu 2 days before I decided I should take it easy. Pretty much slept for 4-5 days straight.

I can walk around all winter long in t-shirts and shorts and feel just fine.

And if I would get sick I would take no meds or anything either.

When I get poison ivy I don't even bother to treat it either.

Christopher Reeves would walk around in the cold, and then he lost his legs... coincidence, I think not...
