so my hi-beams wern't working and i took it to the dealer ship.
they said i have a cracked spark igniter, and they wont cover it under warenty because its cracked....
But before i bought the car the headlight asembly was replaced by volkswagen, could they have cracked it?
its a $650 part with $150 of labor...
they just bull **** me, or are they speaking the truth?

this is on a 2dr 2007 GTI

i have NO idea.
they just say mine is cracked and smoking.
its before the headlight assembly, so i dunno.

Is you turn signal fluid empty too?

Make them show you what and where it is cracked and that it is "smoking"

i know, im gonna go in today when my parents get home.
but i think when the other dealer was installing the headlight assembly they might have cracked it.

A google search for that part didn't bring up anything. I think they are full of ****.

the way he was describing it it seemed like the ballast for the HID's
and there is no way in hell that is $650, and $150 install....

Ask them to check the charge on the flux capacitor while you're there.

Also your high beam is not HID.

Did you even bother to check anything yourself? Like a fuse?

I actually had that happen to my passat right before i got rid of it. i never did get it fixed because of the price.

Never heard of that either... Do you have HID bi-xenons? High beams should just be regular incans, or have a solenoid to move the shield for highs...

I have no idea. Lol. I was already planning on getting rid of my car anyway so I didn't bother with it.

and yes my hid's are my headlight i have bi-xenons.

im not parting them out.
there gonna contact the volkswagen dealership that replaced the headlight assembly and hopefully replace the part under warenty.
i kinda found out what it is.Its like a ballast except the bulb plugs into it. no wires just a dirrect plug in

You have a separate high beam bulb, why would you have bi-xenon? I don't think you do. I could be wrong, but that sounds very pointless.

we called a VW dealer one time asking for HID cooling fluid i said they didn't have any in stock. we asked him how to solve the problem he said to drive faster to cool them down

Interesting. Seems pointless, but whatever works. HIDs are brighter, after all.

yeah but w/e im gonna flash my car so halogens and bi-xenons are activated with hi-beams

I'd leave it the way it is. You don't want to flash your HIDs if they're currently off.
