Give me suggestions for small, cheap modifications that can be done to your car.

I'm looking for some things that will make my car look less stock, without actually doing much.

Please do not say wheels, tires, suspension, body kit, etc... All pointless suggestions, as they are not little nor cheap icon_biggrin.gif

Hmm that reminds me - gotta fix part of my subw00fer box.

I'm looking for more daytime things, kiddos. Not lights. Lights I have no problem finding places for icon_biggrin.gif

Shaving emblems is a good idea. Though I'm afraid of what it's going to look like underneath. I don't want to have a nice fresh paint impression of "LIMITED" on my door.

Car has tint already - came with it when I bought it. It's also not very cheap.

I am a ricer. So? You all post on a neon light boards. You're all ricers!

Tim - it's not a claybar issue. It's an "My car used to reside in Texas and I'm afraid the paint is faded except for under the badges" issue. icon_biggrin.gif

Aftermarket bulbs have already been done. I got some vinyl, any more I think would be crude (except for a new CC logo in teh back). My car just doesn't look good with side vinyl and stuff.

(btw, I never said I wanted the car to not look stock. I want it to at least look like I put some effort into it SOMEWHERE).

I want these:

User posted image

Those, however, are not cheap (actually they sorta are - but Ebay *** rip you on shipping).

I want to cover the dash in some sort of blue fabric. Phil - blue suede perhaps?

Grills
shave emblems
painted brakes(idk what you would do with a white car)
if you have any thing like my back bumper that has pontiac molded into the thing you could maybe get a decal for that to set it off some.
Tint the tail lights or clear them out if you can.
i may be able to think of some other things if i look at your car some.

Where's recent pics of your car?

Really, the cheap mods mostly suck. Better off saving the $30 here and there and save up for a good mod.

CF trim overlay
Front CF splitter
Rear air-dam

De-badging the car would be nice, yet make sure your badges are just glued on. It would suck to remove them only to find 2 holes under them.
As for faded paint, this is perhaps the best $30 mod you can do: buy a good polish (Meguiars #83), glaze (Meguiars #80 or #7), and wax (Meguiars NXT or Gold Class) and a clay bar. It'll bring your paint back to new, a much better investment than some cheap stickon parts.

pinstripping is also cheap, but it looks that way too. unless you do an awsome job. you could buy bent mirrors also. i also saw some tint designs you could do, walmart sells this static tint that you could put on then take off if you dont like. costs maybe 15 bucks. but the thing is cheap mods look cheap. for the most part, not saying there isnt anything out there.

you dont have to buy kit from ebay for that
you just need hinges from hardware store
mod costs less then like 10 bucks and you can search online for turtorials for it
its done the same way for every car

- Tail light tint is on the list of things to do.
- All colors can fade.
- Gauge bezel would have to be custom, but that's also on the list. Will probably do it the same time I switch all the bulbs to a new color.
- "Think dumb".... Obviously you were when posting that icon_wink.gif
- Replacement pedals are possible. I'd probably get STi pedals, but they can run a buck. No way am I putting covers back on.
- Don't wanna pinstripe.
- Any tint you buy in a box = ****.

Hmm cheap ways to make a ride look a little different from other on the road. Well being who I am & having been on both sides of the cost & the look, there are many ways to make small or cheap changes to yor ride that will set it apart from others on the road. It just depends on how little you really wish to spend. Paint can go a long way, say on stock wheels, maybe down the road you'll go custom there when cash flow allows. Door handles, trim, lights, edge effects. All of which can be painted. Don't wanna paint? Ever seen door edge molding? the stuff that goes along the edge of the rides door lol, well it can go other places too, like around the edge of the mirrors, chrome looks kool & if you go to shows you get points for creativity of use, also works on some tail pipes, or even along the top edge of the windows on the ride. As for price, I've seen 50ft. for about $10 or 3ft. for about $3 at the local Wal-Mart. If you have sometime & a printer, you can go to the craft store get some contact paper, print out a design or text on the paper, peel & stick either on yor ride or on the glass, trim with an exacto knife, (cut out the designs or text ) then find the color of paint you like & paint yor design or text onto the surface. Small & simple, very cheap. Others said shave emblems, which is a very good idea & or you could change emblems (just a junk yard away). Maybe some valve stem covers & valve stem caps they are cheap & come in many styles & just so ya know bicycle valve stem caps & covers do fit most cars & trucks icon_eek.gif
Custom plate covers, heck now that I think about it the local craft store has alot of stuff that could end up on a ride.

Wow did I really type all of that lol, oh wait interior effects, naw I'll save that for another thread, Hope that I gave ya some ideas & if I didnt oh well Im Really Lost what did you expect icon_twisted.gif

Pearlescent overcoat spray looks cool on stock wheels icon_rolleyes.gif

Skipped a few of the previous posts but I think I can name a few.

Tail Light changes (Blackouts are around $40 and look pretty sick on some cars)

They don't make blackouts for my car. I'd have to tint them by hand.

And I will probably have a pro painter use some actual paint and clear coat to do my tail lights, as all of my friends who have used Nite Shades have regretted it.

Why?

I smoked my tails and they came out really well. The trick was I smoked a plastic cup first to practice and judge how thin and how many coats to do.

X2, a $10 or $15 mod that really stands. IMO white, blue, or red would look good on a white car. It all depends on what color theme your going with. And Aken I would not worry about paint fade on a white car. My car came from Texas and has spent all its life in the south, I have pulled by badges off before and their was no fade.

My old GP came from Las Vegas and was 8 or 9 years old when i took the badges off. With some rubbing compound, polish and wax it was very hard to tell the location of them.
