I made the mistake of assuming that a brown wire would correspond to black and a green wire would correspond to red. So being too lazy to pull out the multimeter, I blew a transformer. Who the hell uses green and brown wires?!?! It's not even consistant throughout the car, the ceiling's dome light was orange=positive, black=ground (constant), and white=ground (when the door is open). So now I have to buy another transformer. Maybe I'll add it to order of cathodes my workplace is buying.

clothes drying rack?

anywho, yeah cars use a lot of different colors. Which are similar between brands within GM but not exact. Trucks are wired completely differently from cars.

Warp nacelles. Ever watched Star Trek, or for god's sake, ever heard of Star Trek? My friends and I built a "warp drive" into my old Volvo two years ago. The duct tape/pvc pipe contraption was only on my car for enough time to drive around the block and video tape it.

I use green wire for the green positive and purple wire for the purple light positive. Then white for strobes. Then orange for meteors. I have brown and blue and grey too and black and red, and all kinds of other colors in wire. Never know when you will need them. Makes it easier.

I use different colored electrical tape, but otherwise all my wire spools are black and red.

Actually, you'll find that Green is quite a common color for negative. Moreso in AC than DC. The black in AC is the wire that will zap you as well =P So watch yourself =)

yeah in AC green is ground so in a car negative is ground so it kinda makes sense that the negative is green icon_confused.gif
