just remember, if you try and fight it the amount you pay is most likely going to be a lot higher than what it previously started as

86 in a friggin 50?!?!?! your damn lucky you didnt get charged with reckless driving and arrested on the spot.

no way your getting out of it unless you can prove that the cops radar was inaacurate or if the cop just doesnt show up.

pay the fine and be glad you didnt spend the night in jail and get your car impounded.

its better to say behind a drunk/swerving person anyways, that way you can tell what they are doing. Next time don't try to pass them and instead call them in and let the police handle it.

so my mom called the court to find out where it is and she talked to one of the judges there and they said i would lose it for 1 to 6 months mandatory because it was over 30. Now, i also have heard of tons of cases getting fines and no revocation for WAY over 30. I dont know what to do.

The cop told me something strange too. He said when he pulled me over "Legally I can't bump your ticket down if its over 30. Sorry."

Now...I didnt know it was legal AT ALL. Whats the deal? Either way, im 17 and i sped and got caught. dont know whats going to end up with. if i lose it im screwed, no way to get to school, cant take the bus cuz i bought a parking pass and none of my friends drive....so i just dont know. any thoughts?

goto court and explain to them the situation.. Tell them the reason you sped and why you NEED your car. Perhaps they will give you a fine rather then a suspension. Wouldnt hurt to try.

the person talking to your mom was prob being a hardass and just going by the rules.... if i were you i wouldn't fight it... just go to court and see what happens ... there is nothing you can do but wait.

This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. You cant take the BUS because you purchased a parking pass? Get the **** out of here.

in most cases you won't get arrested. typically the cop is supposed to pull them over, look up their records to see why it was suspended, write the ticket, tell them they can't drive a crumb's distance away from that spot, and wait til they find a ride. the car has to be towed to wherever and they recommend that you head over to your states motor vehicle facility.

told you it wouldn't be bad.... but i'm not seeing how the school is saying you are ineligible to ride the bus if you have a parking pass.... schools (and school busses) are fed. and state funded... they can't stop someone from riding the bus unless they broke some bus rules or ****.... that should be brought up at a school board meeting

ok, sorry about the rambling... and glad it (the ticket) wasn't that bad for you.

got lucky there.. my sister got pulled over for doing 80 in a 60 and the cop pulled her over grabbed her and started yelling at her about how she was going to lose her liscence till she was 21.
i went to the police station and talked to his srg, and the on duty call deputy. i told him the situation and how i felt it was "unnecissarry for your officers to take a 17 year old girl and act in conduct above and in excess of the situation" the srg appologized and reprimanded the officer and she had to pay a 120$ ticket.

(she as in my sister)

couldn't you just go talk to your principal or whoever is in charge of your parking passes/busses and tell them of your situation? i bet they'd let you ride the bus if you didnt have a way to get to school.

but hey sounds like you got through court with just a fine so all's good icon_cool.gif

Schools where I live, I don't think even offer bus services anymore.. It got too costly, and with budget cuts in California, that's one of the things that got cut.. High School Kids don't have bussing anymore if I recall correctly.. only Elementary, and Jr High..

Got a letter from the DMV today, my license is suspended for 3 months. This is BULL ****. the judge told me NOTHIGN else would be done, but now its suspended. I have to drive 2 hours back to court now, then see him and beg him to reduce the speed...that isnt legal though, that would be lying under oath if he said i was going slower wouldnt it? I just dont see how thats legal...either way, he has to reduce the speed and then it wont be suspended. then drive 2 hours home.

wtf. how can they do this!
