Stinger 80 Amp Relay - Customer Questions

Frequently Asked Questions by Oznium Customers

Can I use these to control the electric fans that are rated at 60 amps each with a negative trigger wire coming from the efi or is this for a on off switch.
You would need two, one for each fan.
I have a project car that I am completely rewiring. Would this relay be safe to use, to supply a small fuse panel power when the key is in the on position? - by Dustin (Franklin, KY)
Yes, as long as the current is under 80 amps
i am going to use a dedicated illuminated toggle switch to power up my stinger 80 amp relay/isolator with that said what would be proper amp rating for the switch coming from the second battery for a true 12 volt power supply??? - by Bill (Pennsylvania,Philly)
I'm sorry, but we aren't sure.
PEOPLE HAVE SAID THAT A RELAY IS A CURRENT AMPLIFIER WRIGHT? IF I USE A 25AMP POWER SUPPLY TO RUN A CAR SUB AMP IN HOME....(200 WATTS MONO), COULDNT I JUST PUT THIS RELAY INLINE TO BOOST MY AMPERAGE? AND USE A 600 WATT MONO AMP? - by ULTAMIT
I wouldn't call it a current amplifier, here is a basic definition and wiring diagram [http://www.ado13.com#techs/relay.htm].
can this relay be used to boost power from a 2000 watt battery inverter to start any air conditioner unit with a 30 or more amp start up power - by James
I don't see why not.
Hello, I need a diagram of how to install my 3000watt 12v inverter with a second battery in my chevy van. I have the isolator and the fuses in place in the system now but something is draining my second battery. And the instructions that came with the inverter were not very good, so I am at a bit of a loss as to what is draining the second battery. - by Marvin (Oakland, Ca.)

Can I use this with a single car battery as a kill switch? - by Linda (United States)
No, relays are not meant to be used as a kill switch.
You say, "small current". Do you know how much current the relay will pull? I have some controll wire. If it is less than 2A I can use it to engage the contact. - by Andrew (Nacogdoches, Texas 7)
Less than 2A. My guess is around 300 mA
which small contact is the ground and which one is power
The polarity does not matter.
How do you insatall your stinger 80 amp relay?
Give the 2 small contacts positive and negative, and the 2 big contacts will be connected. Remove power from the 2 small contacts and the 2 big contacts will be disconnected.
