is it usual for the metal plate to get very hot - by Robin
The plate might get warm. Not sure what you mean by very hot.

Thinking of using these on a motorcycle to increase visibility. If these are mounted on the front forks and facing left and right would these be ok to use at night?

Awesome lights

The OEM cargo lighting in our work van was abysmal, so I replaced/upgraded to Oznium's COB LED Daytime Running Lights. We have four toolboxes in the cargo area, so I mounted one COB LED above each toolbox, the difference has been astounding. The lights are incredibly bright, and easily light the whole cargo area. The power consumption is absolutely minimal, especially considering the light these put out. I've heard the complaints/warnings about heat, but we use these constantly, and we're nothing but happy - no heat issues with our application. The wires are a bit fragile, especially at the light, so secure and protect them in any installation.
I've already submitted a purchase request to my supervisors, asking that we purchase more of these, a lot more. Absolutely love these lights, and Oznium has been incredible to work with on any shipping concerns we've had.

I used 4 of these in the bed of my truck instead of the typical strip lights everyone else is using. These lights are very bright and easily light up the entire bed of the truck. The only grip I have is the microscopic wires are difficult to use with wire crimps. I would have soldered the connections but I was pressed for time. These are ran off a vandal switch with blue LED. I highly recommend the Vandal switch since it is by far the best looking switch on the market.

I was a little skeptical about these lights but holy cow they are bright. I'm using them as DRL and I'm impressed. They are easy to install with the already applied double face tape and plenty of attached wire.
I might have to order an extra pair of the COB lights for future projects.

So I rolled the dice on these because I didn't think the brightness was going to be that great. So when I got them and plugged them in for the first time, I thought to myself "Perfect" I pulled the bottom lens of my Silverado's Headlight and stuck these suckers inside and boom, I had a 2004 Silverado that now looks like a 2017. The possibilities with these products are endless!
Worth the Investment

I used them for something that you normally wouldn't... Motorcycle DRL's. I wanted a little extra to be noticed on the bike. These were it!! They are incredibly bright in the day and act as close range fogs at night.
The downfall, they get HOT! Put them on something that is metal... it will melt your plastic I'm sure, but CANNOT prove it as I did not try it. I have them mounted on a aluminum bracket.
Going back to the plus side, these for the money, size, quantity and brightness... SOOOOOOO worth the investment. Stop thinking about them and just get them. You'll be happy and proud of your purchase. Can't wait to see pics of others to steal idea's ;)
