Gen 1 xB - perfect fit! | May 18, 2009

Ten-second mod to change out the skanky yellow HVAC lights in a Gen-1 (2005) Scion xB. Cost less than $10 to get a perfect match for my new head unit!
There's a thread on ScionLife.com with 20 or so pictures showing how to open the dash. This was one of the quickest mods I've ever one, and one of the most rewarding!
Sorry, Corvette guys...certain brands are more moddable than others... :p
they dont fit, they dont match | Mar 01, 2009

I have a 2003 C5 coupe. I tried using the blue leds in door switches, TC, and trunk/fog panels but they dont fit. the size of the led bulb is fine. its the plastic on the sides that twists and holds the plastic led fixture to the circuit board that is too big. it will fit down in the hole but it will not lock. i had to take my dremel tool and sand down the 2 sides of the plastic fixture so that it could lock in place. after all that trouble i see that the blue does not match the 5mm blue leds that i wired up my self. they seem to have a slight green tint. the color isnt bad but they dont match. you are better off just pulling your stock bulbs and wiring up the 5mm bulbs your self. this will save you alot of money considering these are $2.50 a piece and the reg 5mm leds are $.35.
No good for C5 corvettes | Feb 10, 2009

i bought these for my 03 vette to put in the switch pannels on my doors. they are too thick to fit. plus the blue does not match the other lights. they seem to be blueish green. your best and cheapest bet is to wire up the regular led bulbs in your stock twist lock fixtures.
Works on 2005 Toyota Tacoma | Dec 08, 2008

I bought these as a replacement for my AC/Climate control lights in my Tacoma, and they work great! These are great bulbs at an unbeatable price. I went to my local Toyota dealer just to see how much an original bulb would cost me and they wanted $14.95 + tax for just one bulb!
look amazing, but don't fit very well | Jul 01, 2008

I bought these for my Corvette's interior: DIC control panel buttons; HUD control panel buttons; window controls; fog lights/hatch panel; and traction control/active handling panel.
When they are put in the light is very bright and evenly distributed. they really look great.
However they do not fit very well in the Corvette's housings. The bases are not the same as the stock bases, they are a bit too wide, so they are difficult to push into position. they are nearly impossible to turn to lock into place, and very hard to get back out. using a screw driver in the slot on the back of the housing to turn them to lock into place does not work well. usually you just end up destroying the plastic. I have some which I was not able to twist into position at all. You can't get them to twist all the way to lock, but on most you can get them to twist far enough that they will stay in place. they are very difficult to remove also. since LED's are polarized you have a 50/50 chance of putting it in wrong, no light, and need to pull it back out. I broke at least 3 of them trying to pull them back out. the stock bulbs will just fall out easily when you unlock them by twisting. These wont, you need to use a combination of needle nose pliers and small flat head screw drivers to pull them back out of the slots. they are very easily damaged in the process.
I rated these 4 out of 5 because I quickly discovered that you can remove the LED and resistor assembly from the housing provided, and insert it into the stock housing by removing the stock incandescent bulb (similar to the procedure shown on spdkilz.com) and now you have a very nice looking high quality LED light with the perfect fit of the stock housing. would you consider selling just the LED and resistor ready to go so you can re-use the stock bulb housings? they would be better if the leads were 2-3mm longer.
overall great product, but not a direct drop in replacement.
Cool, but one burned out after six months | Jun 29, 2008

I'm ordering two more because one burned out in my xA. While it was an easy swaptronics mod, it just didn't last as long as I thought it might. We'll see how long the new one lasts.
Nice lights | Jun 19, 2008
Reviewer: Sam Jensen (Waukesha, WI)
Bought these for my 05 scion xB. While they do fit and look great when theyre on, they dont really lock nice and tight like the factory ones do. So after a while from either my bass or bumps in the road, the lights become loose and dont make the connection. Im sure theres some way to rig it in there so there nice and tight, but I wouldnt really wanna solder them in there. Any suggestions?
flawless design!... for the corvette... | Mar 26, 2008

i own a 2001 ford focus zx3. and for somereason i thought these were the same as the ones that lit up the HVAC controls... i was wrong. but they do KINDA work. just not an exact fit. therefore a little solder work and BAM one of the coolest mods you can do. the stock color is so ... yuck, but these make it sexy!
A simple light to install that makes a big impact! | Mar 22, 2008
Reviewer: Gardiner Snyder (Cumming, GA)
I bought four of these, two for me and two for a friend, to use in our Scion xB HVAC panels. A couple of simple twists to remove the factory bulbs and a couple more intall these and we were done. A nice blue has replaced the ugly yellow the factory bulbs made. An easy mod for your dash!
FITS ALL NEO-WEDGE APPLICATIONS! | Jan 09, 2008

This bulb isn't just for C5's, those lamps are called neo wedge lamps designed by Stanley. Stanley sold millions of those lamps and are installed in dash boards in Ford, GM and Chrysler along with a ton of imports. Infiniti Q45 here and it fits perfect!
xA fits great | Dec 31, 2007

Just installed it last night in my 06 Scion xA and it fits well and is the perfect brightness. This bulb will work with any xA 03 and up.
For my 97 vette | Dec 26, 2007
Reviewer: George Argel (Spring, TX)
The installation was streightforward. The only problem with this bulb is the twist lock screwdriver cutout on the backside. The phillips cutout is too shallow to be used and the flathead is smaller than most flathead screwdrivers. This means if you don't get the polarity right the first time, plan on taking the entire panel apart to get the bulb out.
Here's how you can ensure the correct polarity before figuring it out the hard way. With the illumination controls on, place the bulb into the slot in question backwards (with the LED facing you) When the bulb lights up, note the position of the bulb and spin the bulb around on the axis of the connections making sure the connections stay lined up with the circuitboard. This procedure saved me hours of aggravation.

I purchased these in hopes that they would fit in my XB's factory AC lights, and they did! I was thrilled that I didn't have to do anything but screw them in for them to work. Thanks for the fast delivery!
