In an xbox 360 | Mar 08, 2010

Put one inside my xbox 360 with leds, custom wired it to a seperate switch on top by the hard drive, so it switches between "on" and "music interface." Now my 360 flashes to the beat of the music I play or the gunshots of my favorite shooting games.

Well, mine works great connected to a relay with led's, cathodes and everything. If You find that its too sensitive... you can try placing it in a different location... or try what I did.
I folded up a small napkin and placed it over the small holes (where the mic is located)... and wrapped it with electrical tape making sure to keep it pretty tight as it went around. Kinda muffling the sound somewhat. It made mine work perfect. I just hope it never over heats.
Great Mic! | Oct 12, 2008

I bought this along with 2 blue cathodes and set them up in my room. I set the mic on my sub and tuned it so every time the bass hits hard they turn on.. it works great for me.

I bought the music interface to connect to 4 Flexible Led Bars mounted below each headrest, and it does a great job. For a little over $13 this product does a great job and i do recommend it, im buying another one for floods under the seats.
Cool stuff Works well. | Jan 04, 2008

Being a bit of an Audiophile, I was curious when people claimed how sensitive the unit was so i did a little test. Using my car's Epic 150 SPL meter I set the unit on Most sensitive and ran test tones noting the SPL at which the interface first lit a string of LEDs. Here are the results.
Hz - Most sensitive Least sensitive
20 - 86db/ 104db
50 - 93db/ 103db
75 - 92db/ 99db
100 - 91db/ 95db
250 - 84db/ 89db
500 - 80db/ 91db
750 - 78db/ 93db
1000 - 76db/ 85db
2500 - 74db/ 76db
5000 - 74db/ 75db
10000 - 74db/ 75db
It's also worth noting that this unit is very sensitive to reflected sound waves above 1000 Hz. Below 50 Hz, it's clear that the unit is sensitive to vibrations. If you want the best possible interface to all frequencies, I suggest mounting the unit with the mic facing a speaker or on a reflective path. The unit can be "tuned" to find certain frequencies by changing the mounting location, hardness of the mounting surface and relative angle of the mic to the speakers.
Here's a graph of the sensitivity as tested.

Thing worked fine for me. It's a little sensitive though so try and put it away from speakers other wise if the music is too loud (my music is never ridiculously loud) it will just stay on and not flicker.

Absolute crap. My first one worked fine until I got it into the car, then it didn't work. I was told that perhaps my testing it with a 9v battery blew it somehow, so I bought a second one. The second one was put directly into my car where the first one was, and only one channel of it worked. I only had 9 LEDs on each channel, I was told that would work... apparently not. My ONLY disappointment in any Oz purchase.

I blew mine when trying to wire it up to a relay for a wig-wam effect. However, it seemed to work pretty well before I messed around with it. Be careful wiring it up if you don't keep the default connectors on the end. I'm not sure I'll buy another one or go with another brand.

I have one of these kits. I did a lengthy review on the forums ( http://www.oznium.com/forum/topic2499 ). My overall opinion is it's a great controller for the money. My only real concern is the Cathode Controller is only rated to take 4 cold cathodes. Now I didn't test past this, but Sunbeam seems to stress this on their website so I don't know how much current it can take before frying. I think Sunbeam could vastly improve this by incorporating the the same knob that is used to adjust the sensitivity of the Sound Activated feature to also adjust the Flash rate while in flast mode. That alone would make me buy 1 or two :D I recommend this kit for the money to anyone who wants the Sound Activated feature for a few neons. Using a relay or transistors, you can easily add as many neons or cathodes as you want.
