Illinois is really sketchy, especially in the city areas.
Basically, don't drive with your neons on, and you'll be okay. |

you can always go to your local police station and ask around, thats what i did. the lawn in my area are sketchy to, but he explaned to me that i can have my lights on aslong as the tubes are not shown. but thats for my area it will be different in your area. it never hurts to ask

basically says nothing red, nothing flashing. Anything amber or white is ok. Doesn't specifically say anything about underbody but i think its safe if you keep it not flashing and no cop colors |

make sure you have all tubes hidden under the car....you don't want any toobage showing when you stand beside the car.

IL seems to be strict with the cop colors, so try to stay away from red and blue combos, but lately ive seen people with ub's on and not get pulled over, where before it was a huge deal, im not really sure but your safer with them just not on (i occasionally drive with my interiors on)

Yep I found out that different cops will tell you different things on weather or not they are legal because they are not SPECIFICALLY listed in the law as being illegal. But it is illegal to have any other light other than amber in the front and sides and amber or red in the back. That is for the exterior only though. Neon on the inside of the car is perfectly legal as long as it isn't flashing. At least that was the law when I lived there about 6 years ago. It may have changed since then. Basically you are asking for trouble driving around with those things on. It's like waving a double bacon cheeseburger and a litre o' cola in front of them. It is too tempting for them to resist!
