I'm thinking about replacing a few of my current white lamps (door sills, map lights, etc.) with colored LED bulbs from Autolumination (sorry to mention a competing merchant, but I don't BELIEVE that Oznium here sells such a product - if they do I'll remove the name). Anyway, one of the applications that's listed for their bulbs is to replace the two OEM white license plate pulbs with the colored LEDs. Has anyone ever done that, and if so, where did you find out what the law was for that? The LED bulbs are, as far as I know, actually BRIGHTER than the OEM halogens, but the color might get me ticketed.

Thanks!

Is illegal in all states I believe, BUT is something that you can easily get away with.....I replaced the stockers on my Buick when I did all the other lighting mods, and since it improved the readability of my tags, I was never bothered for it....pulled over and warned about UBs, interior, strobes, never that.....Just choose your color wisely, or if it's brighter that you're going for just replace with white LEDs....

What were you using? Since my car's orange, I was thinking high-intensity amber...

that wont fly....from what I know about vehicle lighting codes, is that the law for this is pretty standard, only white, and red visible to the rear.....Id keep em white dude.

You're right, I know... But lighting becomes a mania after a while... I'm sure none of YOU guys have ever experienced that, though... icon_rolleyes.gif

no, never, I didn't glow out a lawn mower, or my entire game room.....or my garage, or even get pulled over 7 times for lighting in 3 different vehicles.
