well everybody, I had hoped by this time I would have some hott new pics posted of my car up here. For christmas I had a set of 17'' chrome wheels and tires installed on my 99 civic at Pep Boys, because they had a good sale going.

So as I was driving home from pep boys after the installation my steering wheel would shake if I drove over 50..I looked up the problem and I concluded that it must have been a defective tire or rim.....

So i took it back less than one week later, and I was told I would have to wait 2 hours for them to even LOOK at my car, and because I had to go to home before I had to go to work 3 hours later, I said great, let me just drive home and get my work clothes and hopefully when I get back the wait wont be much longer... and OF COURSE if i left they could hold my spot in line

so i said **** it and left, I returned a day later, and the same thing occured, except the wait was 3 hours, and I did not have time for that either. So i spoke with the manager who said he could set me up with an appointment(which i was previously told i could not make) for three days later.

I was dissapointed again, but ON THAT SAME DAY........ I was driving home from work going about 30mph and my steering wheel was vibrating ALOT worse and I heard a thud thud noise coming from my front driverside wheel.

Next thing i know my entire wheel is flying down the street and my car's front end with my brand new blaze tube I installed THE SAME DAY is scraping along the road.

Apparently they did a **** job with the lug nuts because the wheels in the back were both missing one each too.

Now im dealing with insurance and whatnot because my car has some real serious damage to it, so my moral of the story is to AVOID PEPBOYS LIKE THE PLAGUE

You can bead and spin-balance tires on wheels? See, to me, that's not "easy ****"... at least, not unless you have the right tools. I assume you work in a shop? Most people don't have access to that kind of stuff.

Just saying...

That said, what kind of mouth-breather can't use an effing torque wrench? If a mechanic can't figure out a lug nut, then they shouldn't be allowed near a car IMHO. I wild have been furious had this been my car.

PS - since it wwa their neglegence that caused the damage, you should make THEIR INSURANCE cover all the damage and broken parts (Blaze kit and everything else that was scratched, dinged or damaged - go out RIGHT NOW and take multiple angle photos f everytjhing that was broken). I assure you that they pay large premiums for insurance, just for this reason. A service manager with half a brain would sweeten the deal by discounting or even totally covering the service charges that started the whole fiasco.

Yea, you should not be dealing with your insurance, you should be dealing with their insurance.

I feel your hurt though...I drive a 00 Civic icon_evil.gif and I probably woulda lost it if that had happened to me.

thats exactly what i did ,ImagoX, insurance is taking care of everything, rental car and all. Im so **** though, the whole ordeal is just so inconvenient. I was actually going to take my car in for a detailing the day after it happened. I don't have an extensive report of everything that was damaged to share with you all, but insurance assessed the car will need about $1,500 to fix everything.

and for a lighting story... when this happened the cops actually said they liked my interior lighting (cathodes along with the awsome led strip in the dome light) and when i accidently flipped on my blaze kit, they said that was cool too. ill post some pictures of everything when i get my car back.

but i gotta say the cops that were there with me were actually some cool dudes that werent lookin to give me a hard time thank god.

your insurance isnt paying for it, right? just making sure they are. i havent had bad experience with pep boys, aside from the fact the brands they carry for brakes and such stuck

That sucks.

my buddy took his work car in there for brakes because thats where his company has their cars serviced and it took them 8 hours straight and then they closed and had to pay for a rental for him because there service techs are so dumb they forgot to tighten his rotor to the lathe and it flew off and was destroyed.
