use as many as you want, the more the brighter. i have one in each and its plenty bright. could use more brightness though icon_smile.gif and for how far back, i'd say it depends on how your vents are shaped on the inside? mine are like 1/2 an inch back or so not even and they're on the bottom left and aimed to the top right corner of the vent...eh

hey im ready to install some leds i have a duct coming up to my dash that looks like this

l------------------------l
l l
l l
l l
l------------------------l

and its split down the mid to make two vents, the most accesible area is straight throught the top of the vent, would i just drill straight down and put the led in? or like at an angle? what would give me the best lighting, i have 3 leds buy the way that i want to put in, ive hooked them to a 9v battery and man there bright.

"pic" doesn't really show much... if the vents are below eye level, then try to shine them down in the vent... and shine up if it's above eye level. unless you want them to shine out... that's just opinion. i find that annoying esp when driving... so i just have the vents glow... at the price hook them up around the vent in a triangle... cover all corners. the best part about this is to be creative... just wire it and use tape to temp hold it. turn out lights and look... put the vent back "on" see what happens when you move it... possibiliies are endless!!!
