this is certainly a WTF moment.

we got a decent amount of snow this weekend, and in moving the cars around to shovel em out, i noticed both the impala and cutlass had bright yellow flourescent drips underneath them.

first thought was antifreeze, but these cars are running red dex, so thats a no go.

thought maybe its the a/c dye? dont know if this shows a color in plain daylight though.

wtfff...

not sure what it is, a location relative to the car would be good. Front of motor, back of of motor, left right center. etc.

You should ditch the dexcool too. Its corossive and loves to eat gaskets.

ac dye is yellowish in color and glows under a uv light. if you could pinpoint exactly where under the car it is leaking we could be more certain.

where was it in relation to the tire tracks. the whole AC system is on the passenger side. So it the leak was on the driver side then AC can be ruled out fairly strongly.

what color is your washer fluid? they do sell bright yellow fluid I think.

someone's been peeing in the snow....

there's only so many fluids in a car.... trans is red... oil is gray/black(unless new but not bright yellow) brake fluid can be yellow.. a trace dye for a/c might be yellow... power steering(unsure of that one)... coolant... but your running red stuff... fuel is usually clear with a colored tint to it (for gas station identification)

i think that's everything

oh yeah... usually blue washer fluid

and the occasional fluid for heat exchangers on supercharged vehicles... not applicable to these vehicles of yours though

what part of bright flourescent yellow dont you understand? rainx is NOT yellow. its dull orange.

the drips look like they could have come from a yellow highlighter.

and rags, the defrost is on about 90% of the time when its cold out, so yes, that means the a/c is on.

Justin, try this...

If you can't visually spot the leak based on the location of the drips, you gotta get old skool...

Put the car SECURELY (very securely - I can't stress this enough) up on ramps or stands, use a creeper to get under and then using a degreaser like Simple Green and a bunch of clean rags wipe down everything you can in the general vicinity of the leak. The point is to clean away all the accumulated grime that's hiding the source. Then, if simply cleaning it doesn't reveal the leak, have someone start the car and rev it/run the accessoroes while you look up at the engine - I'd wager that it will start dripping again and you should be able to eyeball the source. You may want to use goggles in case it drips into your face.

Under no circumstances get under the car unless it's rock solid on the ramps/stands even when you push against it hard.

Good luck!

and other brands of icemelt/winter formula washer fluids ARE a bright yellow.

and if its below freezing and you turn the defrost on most likely your ac is not working mine wont turn on below 35 degrees.
