I don't think it is waterproof, but you can mount it in there. Adam did that and I dont think he's had problems.

the box is not water proof, but it is weather proof. Mine's gotten a little wet. But it still works fine.
They do have a water proof one if I remember correctly. But I haven't seen any online shops carry them. |

The boxes are not weatherproof.... they are not to be mounted outside of the vehicle (ie: engine compartment). Get water on that box while the power is on, and you'll have one nice little fireworks display!!! Plus leaving it out to the elements all the time will lead to corrosion and eventual components failure.
As for the "seperate ground wire", if you're getting noise in your electrical system, you can connect them together at the box's end, ground the bunch, and cut the excess at the bulb's end... As Whelen's instructions dictate. |

add a relay off of the accessory wire on the alarm.
and if your alarm doesn't have an accessory wire (factory), Carl was actually nice enough to draw up a diagram back in the day.

Ok, so assuming I go off the accessory wire (the one that makes the lights flash?) doesent it get 12v for a second then 0v then 12v and so on to make them flash? If so, then the strobes would turn on and off as well as opposed to continous 12v power. Am I on the right track? I mean, your vid looks perfect and looks like the strobes have a continuous 12v while the lights are flashing. Is that due to the relay being in place? |

You could make it a lot simpler ya know.. the cable that goes to the horn/speaker you use for the audio on the alarm is being supplied continuous power while the alarm is going off. If you connect a relay to that, as soon as the horn starts blaring, the strobes will be supplied with 12v and you are set. You won't have to worry about it interfering with headlights, or having to have a switch etc... it just works.. =)

that's the way i was going to do it... and the neon/strobes would "chirp" with the alarm... becuase it's a 12v alarm unit that cycles automatically thru the tones...

no... not them. the white clip that actually plugs into the control box has three wires on them, and you attach these to the wires and they "snap" in to the plug...
