Installed a couple of flex LED strips under my tails. The factory tails have been tinted, and a little hard to see in bright sunlight sometimes. So I just added a little bit more light.

I wired them into both the brake and running lights.

I used a 1K 1/2w 5%CF resistor on the running light positive lead to dim them.

Also put in a IN4001 diode on both the running light and brake light positive lead to eliminate the chance of current flowback.

i know this thread is old but i have a question...

thinking about something like this for my bike. making a single LED strip brake light.

i know there are 3 wires going to the current brake light. with the running and brake light wires both going to the same LED strip, is this the same method used to wire them up? also about the diode, you put one of these on both wires? so one diode per wire?

assuming both the running light and the brake light are wired into one side and the ground to the other? that being the reason for the diodes to prevent current flowback? and how do you wire in the resistor thing?

i'm unfamiliar with this kinda stuff but that seems simple enough to do.
