I installed a LED on the underside of my door handle (the one you use to pull the door shut once you are inside)... Because it was in a little hole on the underside of the handle, pointing towards the door, it projected a small circle on it. I tried the mod someone else suggested about flattening the tip, and it worked. It spread the light more evenly rather then putting a single spot on the door.

The question I have is: Is there any way to direct the light to spread even more then just flatenning the tip? Like maybe if I sharpened the tip to a point, and made all the rounded edges flat 45 degree angles, would that spread the light much better?

Has anyone taken apart any of the already made LED tubes and flatted the tips of all of the LEDs in order to better spread the light? I'd think it would be a standardized thing for tubes..

From the mod I made, it appears to be brighter as well... It might be worth while to take apart the tubes and flatten all of the tips.... I wonder if it will make the ICELED unit any brighter... Although it would be a ***** taking apart the tubes without damaging them... Just curious...

it'd help to get a picture of the area you are working w/ maybe... but you can search around for LED's w/ a brighter viewing angle. You usually sacrfice your brightness w/ this though.

And I would highly recommend against trying to mod your 800$ underbody kit.

the "wide spread" one have an inverse cone cut in them, they're sorta frosty, and you do sacrifice brightness... also they are bigger.

Mod it! Mod it!

That way if you mess up you will have to buy another one.
