I had some red LED flexistrips laying around and decided to spice up the exhaust area. If it works out with the heat, then I'll extend it even further down torwards the front of the bike.
Here's some better pics: Nothing turned on, camera flash:
LED strips and taillight turned on, camera flash:
LED strips and tailight turned on, no flash:

Thanks We'll see about the melting. They aren't on the actual exhaust, they are on the heat sheild that goes around the exhaust. Which doesn't get anywhere near as hot has the exhaust, it is made of some sort of special plastics and has heat insulation under it. Hoping for the best |

Thanks everyone!
Maybe I should call them my Afterburner Lights Mod Here's a short term update: Did about 200 miles so far on the FZ6 since the mod. Lots of high revving miles in the FL heat. No melting or visible changes to the flexistrips, so far so good on that score HOWEVER, I didn't secure the wires good enough and one of them got loose enough to directly touch the exhaust. Melted through the wire's insullation and shorted out. All it did was trip the inline fuse, so no drama. Cut out the damaged wire section, spliced it back together, re-doubled my wire mounting efforts (also routed them slightly differently) and all set to go again I still wouldn't recommend anyone try it themselves yet, not until I have a few thousand miles at least with no problems, but early indications are good! |
