i would like to hook up my scanner to the ufo kit's power... when ufo turns on, i want the scanner to turn on. I also would like to hook it up to my alarm, so when the alarms is armed, the scanner turns on. problem is, it turns on power to the 1 tube in the ufo... the one i have it hooked up to to power on.
is there any way to have power only go to the scanner from ufo, but not travel back into the ufo when the alarm is on? |

if i hook up both to the relay, i'll have the same problem i want two to control, without power going back down the line. if they both trigger the relay, they both put power all ways. unless it has 2 inputs that do not cross power. or a double pole double throw... with both throws attached to power... would do, but they get pretty hefty in size.... need some sort of diode... just don't know how to go about figuring out what one...

or you could put a switch in to turn power off to the thing you don't want one

Take the power line that comes off your alarm when it arms and attach it to your scanner so that when you arm the alarm, it turns the scanner on. Do the same with the UFO kit so that when it turns on, the scanner turns on. Now that you have power from both sources, put a directional diode in line on both power lines setup so power can only flow one direction. That way if you arm your alarm, power won't go through that power wire to your scanner, and then backtrack to your UFO kit, and visa versa.
