I snagged a Zune for the fiance'. Guess it would make a decent B-day gift.

Yeah, iPod's are pretty horrible. I like the zune because it can be completely personalized with pictures colors and everything. the screen is huge and shows awesome quality videos. Can't wait to get it in the mail...... my friend has one I borrow it all the time. iPod's are just so.... limited to what you can do.

That's why you get an iPhone, has everything you just described + about 100 more things. iPods lick nuts, but the iPhone just owns all.

There's even the new iPod Touch -- but the pictures I saw of it made the build quality look less than an iPhone and the iPhone isn't much cooler

I've heard nothing but ass of the iPhone. No thank you. Not paying an outrageous cost for a buggy piece of technology.

Don't you mean not paying outrageous cost for a buggy GUI? There's no new technology in those things, just a neat GUI.

Been wanting to get a Zune but they were sold out by the time I checked when they were on there last.

That's funny, I've own one since it's launch (my co-worker too), and we have 0 problems or complaints with ours. Safari does crash on occasion if you start scrolling/zooming on large pages before they have finished loading, but you have to pay to have bleed edge technology. No product launch has ever, or will ever be bug free.

There's no new technology in the iPhone? That's an odd statement.

haha, okay.

What about full fledge browser in phone?
Pinch/multi-touch screen? Technically not new, but new for a mobile device.
Visual voice mail?
MP3 Player... not new. iTunes mobile store on your phone? (although honestly I haven't upgraded my phone to get that feature)
Cover flow is probably what you're considering a UI, but I think the idea behind it is very unique. It will be copied I'm sure.
YouTube on your phone?
The stock program and weather program is cool too.
The whole 3 way calling/hold system is very very cool. I haven't seen it done like that before, but it may again just be a UI for an old system.

just admit it's an innovative phone and I'll leave you alone icon_biggrin.gif

You will not win a battle saying the iPhone doesn't have new things bud, so stop, please. I am also in the boat of 0 problems with my iPhone, and I even hacked the ***** and am doing everything on it, still, 0 problems. You people are just jealous that you can't get one. It is awesome to have everything right here. I have no dislikes about this phone, everything is amazing and fast, hacking it brings it to that perfect 10, if you can think of it, you can do it on the iPhone.

Except of course talk on it. I've never seen anyone TALK on one... Personally I don't need my phone to wipe my ass. Aren't the things like the size of a PSP? That's too big for me to be talking on. Now if they had a iFlipPhone..... We'd be talking.

wtf? Just because you've never seen anyone drive a Ferrari doesn't mean they can't move. I talk on my phone multiple times a day. With my hands free stereo headset (that came with the phone), bluetooth (that were free after the $100 rebate that Apple gave us early adopters), on speaker phone (built nicely into the phone), and even the old fashioned way by holding it up to my ear.

A touch flip phone would suck, the screen would be so small you couldn't enjoy anything.

My samsung sgh-x427 works fine for me as a phone. It cost I think $50 when I got it... my Sansa cost $85 off Woot.

How much is the iphone again?

Just because your two pieces of equipment "work" doesn't mean they are a better deal.

I already had a phone that worked great. Was great for texting too, but I had it since 2003 and wanted something new. I have a VERY nice MP3 player that I got a year or two ago that I have never even been close to filling up with music. I spent $700 on my phone after accessories and I didn't have any buyer's remorse. The price has gone down $200 since then, so for $500, I don't see why anyone is still calling it pricey. There are many more phones out there that don't do half of what this phone does that cost as much or more.

This thread should probably be closed or split.

My $50 phone + $85 Sansa = $135

Your mp3-playing phone = $500

Compare the two. I come out ahead $365. To me, PERSONALLY, $365 isn't worth having speakerphone (I hate it), wireless anything (never use it), and a fancy interface.

IMO the iphone is the electronic version of spinners. Flashy and unique, but not really useful.

I use every application on the iPhone, never thought I would but now that i have it, and hacked it, there are so many thing I use daily. Like the internet I use CONSTANTLY, in class, when the computer at home is taken, etc. I use weather features, maps all the time, the headset in the headphones is awesome I always use that when I make calls unless it isn't near, always listening to music at work and it is easy because I already have the headphones in, so if someone calls, I just touch the screen and shove it back in my pocket so I can work and talk, and when the call is finished, iPhone puts my music back on for me automatically, right where I left off. I use youtube all the time too. Someone is like "hey did you see that video?" "nope, but give me a sec" look it up and watch. Don't want to load your hard drive with videos? Go to youtube and just watch them, no hard drive space taken. And I can text like none other with the touch screen keys. The interface is amazing and makes me look back at my old phone and laugh.
I think it is worth every penny. I now have EVERYTHING in one little device, NOT the size of the PSP, WAY smaller.
If you can't afford it, too bad for you, you are missing out. One of my greatest investments, I drain the battery everyday and have to charge from less than 10% at night because I use it every waking moment icon_lol.gif

Yeah, not useful at all icon_rolleyes.gif

Exactly. Consider yourself lucky that you are happy with your electronics. I was content, but I knew I wanted more -- I needed a personal organized for example. Now I have a full fledge calendar that easily syncs with my Outlook calendar (both ways mind you), so it is very easy for me to know birthdays, important work dates, vacation days, parties, etc. If you're happy with your $135 combo cool. Don't try and dog on us for paying more for features we like. To me, it is well worth the extra $365 I paid.

I'm not trying to dog on those that use all those extra things. I'm annoyed at the people saying "OMG iPhone is the best ever, everything else sucks!" and "You're just jealous you don't have one." It's not the best for me, and I'm not jealous at all.

And yay woot off! Nothing good so far though.

I was skimming through what I missed and saw the surround speaker set... upon checking out the blog for them, they only go down to 200 hz... eff that. Mom's wanting speakers and stuff for the living room for Christmas, but she doesn't deserve something that awful.
