I'm running dual Flowmaster 40's with 2 1/4" piping from the cats to the 3" tails, I love how it sounds, nice and deep, even when I nail it:

whats the resonator you people are talking about is it that bit of metal inside a normal shaped (oval) exhaust(muffler) that looks like a Visa V like on of the lines on the v is parallel to the box an the other line is off at about 45degrees or is it something else

Mufflers I've had experience with:
Borla: powerful grunt-like sound. Nothing quite sounds the same but they have a ~2000rpm drone Flowmaster: Similar to borla but with a slight rasp to it. They sound a little hollow. Corsa: Very hollow sound with alot of rasp. Very classy system. |

I actually have a Cherry Bomb Glass pack for a Cat. Converter, and then 2.25" ran to a Top speed muffler and for a 4-banger it's very deep, but still has that tuner buzz in it as well. Now all I need is a Header

Have you ever heard one in person? Cherry bomb turbo mufflers sound great. They give a deep muffled sound to four bangers. And they aren't loud at all. |

I have heard some cherry bombs sound good on 4 bangers, and I hate the tuner rice sound.

On 4 cylinder motors the sound of the exhaust will change depending on what size of piping is used. My ex's saturn had a dual dtm tipped can on the factory piping and it had ZERO bubble bee rasp but when she up graded her exhaust piping to 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" (can't remember) it developed the classic bubble bee rasp with the exact same can....
And folks we need to be clear here, there is the Cherry Bomb resonator and the Cherry Bomb Turbo muffler, it's common people refer to the resonator simply as a Cherry Bomb.... I have faith that MOST mufflers will sound better than ANY resonator (this excludes round canister mufflers that are more often than not big resonators)..... |

^werd.
My four door saturn has stock piping with the cherry bomb turbo muffler. It sounds ****. My twin cam two door saturn, I put 2 1/4 inch piping on and it sounded like straight ass. I put a cherry bomb glass pack in the middle of the exhaust as a resonator. That drasticaly decreased the ricey rasp sound. I have a turbo muffler on, so it sounds wayyy better now. |
