It's my very first ticket for my lights. It's the lights that I placed under each of my headlights. I WAS driving in legal mode on my ICELED UFO kit. The bar was displaying white, but the cop is ticketing me for the individual LEDs that make up the color white. The cop also didn't designate if the ticket was writting for JR(me) or SR(my dad). MY car is also not black, and I think him and his 2 million candle power spot lights are blind if they can't see green. Well, this shall be a fun one to fight. I bet the JR/SR thing will get the ticket dropped.

They will simply run the plate, and call it green, and then ask if you are JR or SR. If you have not had tickets tossed in the past for a reason like that then don't think it will be so easy.

I got a ticket that had my middle name, as my first name and my last name only, and it was not dropped, the court magistrate, said "state your name" I said stated it... and he said "well that is cleared up" the impression I was given is, it's not the details of the ticket it's the infraction and the name and plate # if all three are screwed or two of the 3 are screwed then possible to be dismissed.

well moss if they muck up your name like not having your first name then technicaly the ticket is void i would have thought because its not got your name on it an i would say the only way they could challenge it was if they had video evidence of you being the driver of that car you were in and of the infraction on the same tape

but like i say i would have thought that if they mess up something important as your proper name on the ticket then technicaly that cant be your ticket cause it most definetly dose not have your name on it

an alien young jr

if you do have led's of different colours such as green blue red actualy being able to see them from another vehicle such as a vehicle in front facing you then i guess your not realy in the right

an you said that your car's not black dose it say a certain colour on the ticket?

an the sr jr thing
if it dosent have that on it then you could say that you wern't driving the vehicle an your or your dad cant remember who was driving <that one's a bit of a sticky wicket i wouldent use it for your argument but you can use it on speed cameras when they dont have a pic of your face

its what people can do in the UK cause speed cameras there are just about making money its pathetic realy

any hew hope this helps

Yeah...good thing bout where i live is...I can have any ol' color i want going. AS LONG as you cant see the bulbs (tubes) AND it cant be flashing...or doing all its bonerfyingly awesome functions while driving =) It can be slowly changing colors (fading from color to color) but it cant be flashing.

So you got a court date on a ticket that was handed to you? Your plan is to stand in front a judge and say.

"Well my father might have received this ticket, but he is not sure, so I came in today to fight this ticket, which I can not claim to be my violation, because Jr. is not clearly stated on the ticket. How I knew to be here today is a real mystery because we have no recollection of this who situation."

Let's say somehow that works, if the officer is in the courtroom, he will simply say "he was driving" His license number or something like that is recorded some where as well no need for cameras.

If the license plate number is written out properly on the citation, it doesn't matter if they wrote down the car's color as pink. It's the car.

yea you say that but if you had a lawyer present theres probibly some argument about if they couldent even tell what colour the car is how could they tell the lights actualy looked green in the first place
or that the car's never been resprayed

but like i said in "<that one's a bit of a sticky wicket i wouldent use it for your argument"

Now you have a lawyer? To fight a ticket, in traffic court.

Then they argument will be that many city's give their officers eye tests including color blindness tests.

They might throw it out if the officer is not there. If the officer is there, they will just run the plate and get all the info and present that.

I have gotten tickets that the color section was empty.

All they need on the ticket is the plate, make and model of car, color is irrelevant. Even if the car has been resprayed, that would have to be reported to update the ownership papers, and then to the insurance company. As for not putting down Jr vs Sr, sorry but you will have no joy on that one. With the plate and most likely your license number down, it's you.

Still seems to me that the cop was being a bit **** about the 3 individual LEDs needed to display white. Eh, oh well.

Court date is set for October 17th at 10:00am. I will try to fight it, or at least get the fine lowered. For right now the court date will help push the fine back several months cause I'm a little tight on money right now.

Ok why does it really matter. If you were in the wrong why not just walk in there man up and say yes this was me, yes this was my car and yes I had this one it in this color, let the judge know that you are sorry you wont let it happen again, pray for mercy, take the fine like a man. If I had been given a ticket the other night when I got pulled over for my ub lights I would have been a woman about it told my fiance that I got a ticket, gone to court and paid my fine. Fortunately I got lucky and the Officer took pitty on me when I honestly told him I was told differently before I installed them when I called and asked(which I did in quite a few cities that I frequent) and that I was actually on my way to the ER because I was sick. I wasnt speeding, or violating any other traffic law so he let me go. I told him that I would just turn my ext lights off which I did right in front of him and then he chatted me up about my car and was impressed that I as a woman knew what I was talking about. I dont understand why you cant just go in there and be a man about the situation and pay the fine like a good upstanding citizen. I feel that those who fight insignificant tickets like that actually werent in the right and just got mad cause they got caught. But then again I am a Criminal Justice major so maybe thats why I feel that way. Anywho, just go in there admit you were in the wrong (if you truely were) and set up a payment plan with the court cashier and have a nice day.

only thing i really have to add to this thread is the fact that they can issue a ticket to the vehicle's owner... in which your case would be.... the current condition/set-up of the vehicle is violating the law and it is the responsibility of the owner to pay the ticket and have it fixed.... who is driving does not really matter... neither the exterior color... if they got the plate and the registration matches.... not really a way of getting out of it

Have to admit I agree. The only ticket I have agreed should be fought was a friend of mine who was fighting a reckless driving ticket. He passed out at the wheel due to a medical condition and the idiot cop didnt know what to write up, so he wrote him up for reckless driving. When he asked why he said "well when you went on the curb right there, that was reckless." and he was like wtf, okay. He ended up going to court and getting it dropped. If it was a measley ticket i'd say no, but something like reckless driving on an 18 yr olds record can kill insurance.

**Edit - he was unaware of the medical condition at the time and they are still working with him to figure out what caused it. The cop said he knew he passed out because there were no brake marks before he hit the curb then eventually went thru a fence and into a Semi.

Nothing much to add either, Just that you could possibly take a picture from just far enough away so that they look white and then a picture close enough to the bulb to see the individual LED's....Then you can present that in court and just tell the judge that you didn't think you were in the wrong because from any reasonable distance the bulb is white and present the fact that white light is actually a combination of all the colors in the spectrum, then show the pictures of the individual LED's, possibly with a scale next to them to show how small they really are and explain that the individual LED's are what make up white.

Assuming having extra white bulbs on your car is legal in your area you might have a loophole there.

Well, I got the fined lowered to half of the original amount. $100. Well, I also got placed on probation for 90 days, and that lasted a whole two days before i got a ticket for supposedly running a stop sign and failure to yield the right of way to traffic. I think that's all ****, but it's hard to fight a cop and a off duty cop witness.

i don't know yet. the probation was to keep the ticket off of my record, so i bet the ticket will go on my record. i don't really get many tickets so i don't think i wil be hurt by it much.
