Ok, so i have 2 phoenix gold Titanium Amps... and 1MS2250

i want to have plexiglass in my trunk to show off my speakers/iceled.

I've already decided how i want the MS amp... right torwards the back of the trunk in a false floor, covered with plexiglass. some iceled will light the amp nicely.

Now for the other stuff...

A mix of Black leather coated box and Plexiglass will construct my box. How i want to do this? I'm not too sure. specifically. Maybe have both speakers face torwards eachother wtih the magnets facing out to the sides of the car... and have a "window" to see in... or i could make the whole thing Plexiglass... and border it with leather. Not too sure how to go about it... and where to put the TI amps...

any ideals?

use your imagination =) the nice thing about subs is it will sound good regardless of what way you face it. The only thing that matters is that you have a good, proper dimension box in which the subs are mounted in. If you are using store bought boxes, face them any way you want. If you are making your own box, then make sure you get proper dimensions for your sealed enclosure. If you are making a ported box, you better be damn good with numbers because those boxes are tuned with what I'd imagine would be a very complex geometric algorithm.

dude... i own a shop... i know how to make a box icon_lol.gif and i've done some of the best boxes specifically port tuned to the speaker. I also design pro-audio speakers, the calculations are very simple as long as you know the limits of what can be done (ie box size is realative to ports size, speaker size, and speaker x-max., but can only be up to such size based on the material for. same goes for speaker throw, speaker size, and port size. realative direction of the port is also important in proper acoustic resonance....)

however...
i don't need to know about this... i'm wondering more about ppl's opinion on looks...

My appologies, I didn't even look at the name of the poster when I posted a reply...

As for plexiglass, I like my friends box.. 2 subs mounted at 45's facing eachother inside a ported box with a plexi glass panel on the top. While you can buy them like that, it's not really custom, I still think it looks bad ass. He put 2 black lights in there, his subs are white colored.. makes'm glow nicely =)

no need to apologize... icon_wink.gif ever want some help with dementions for ported box, gimme a holla... icon_smile.gif

anyway, i sorta like that ideal, but

a. the plexi in those boxes would crack to my speakers i use 1" plexi
b. i want it seen from the front and the back...

so what to do with the amps??

not a good idea if you want to keep your amps for along time. heat goes up and the boards on the amps hang down so they stay cool.

would look cool in your truck... but i have a car with a trunk... and the heat wouldn't matter... these are phoenix gold and they have built in cooling fans, and i'm waaaaay underpowering them... also have thermal and overload protection... so it's pretty much straight.

Check this out. I just found this and thought it was pretty cool idea. Mounting your subs to the lid of your trunk... Would take some kick ass fiberglassing skills, but it's doable, and you gotta admit that would look pretty sick. Then you could make a false bottom in your trunk to mount your amps in. Put a nice thick carpeted MDF floorboard down with black plexiglass holes in it, and some lights underneath, so you can only see the amps when you turn on the lights. Like maybe get some Plexiglass tinted limo black or something. That'd look sick.

they have 6.9's in that picture, but i think it would be damn near impossible for subs... considering the size of my subs woudln't even fit on the trunk lid. but i do like the design/angles of the subs in that pic...

damn, you're right.. hehe I wasn't paying close enough attention apparently. I just thought they looked shrunk down on one side because they were angled... I feel like a retard now =P

What do you think of the black plexiglass idea? Make it so you can't see it until you turn on the lights =)

do you have the ability to curve the 1" plexiglass???

even if you cant you could make some sick looking sub boxes so that the subs sity in the outside corner of the car and face towards the center of the truck( i know its not the "ideal" position for subs)

OR

I think it would pretty sick if you could mount the subs in a tube type thing. you could make it look like 2 HUGE air tanks but they would hold your subs.

I have other ideas I just cant explain them

ALSO: what kind of car do you have?? so when I think about this during school tomorrow I can have a reference to the amount of size I am working with.

when you said "window to look in" i dont know if its possible, but i was thinkin of putting a piece of mirror on the bottom and a one way mirror that you look thru. and put some LED around the one way (side you look thru) and angle them toward the bottom mirror. if all goes to plan, you should have a weird "sandwich" thing that you can see the initial reflection of the LEDs then that is reflected off the one way mirror and it makes a bottom less pit type effect. i'll see if i can come up with a diagram
_-one way mirror
*-LED
=-regular mirror

did that with a 69 camaro in the shop... and the interior of the box was lined with a white/grey marble look. it was awesome. we used 8awg braided wire for the speakers, it was HOTT!!!

only problem is i want to use iceled's (you couldn't guess icon_lol.gif )... mirrors don't mesh well with them.

You could do mirror's with them. In order to get the desired effect, you'd have to make the box a little differently make a small recess where you could hide the ICELEDs (I'd take'm out of the tube so they take less space) and have them facing just right to reflect off the side wall. Then you'd get the effect you are looking for with ICELEDs without having the mirrors reflect the LEDs themselves.
