Big Pimpin icon_cool.gif And I don't think I've ever seen spinners spinning that fast icon_eek.gif how'd you get them going so good?
Now the only downside to the spinners is that it blocks the actual wheel, so you can't see it that well.

I used my hand to spin them and my friend shot the picture. I wish the wheel could be seen better, but I like the having the spinners more.

Some kids in China have a little bucket of chrome paint and they use a paint brush to put the chrome plating on the rusted steel they dig out of a hole somewhere icon_rolleyes.gif

Well these are off-brand, or I guess the shop's own brand or whatever. They say they are the same quality of the Dvinci wheels and they have never had a problem with these wheels or spinners, and they've sold close to 500.

At first I thought the spedometer might have changed a bit, but then I drove next to my friend on the cell phone and it seems like the speedometer is still correct. I guess the actual tire diameter didn't change much.

One thing I can definetly notice is the ride quality. It seems like I have more control over the road (since there's more surface area on the tires). Also, there are a TON of vibrations through the steering wheel and whole car now icon_surprised.gif. My guess is that the suspension was designed to work with the stock tires (which have a ton of rubber and bounce to them). The new ones just transfer a lot more of the road into the car. I wonder if an air suspension would help or hurt that.

I need to get a hold of that shop if they really sell wheels that cheap. Anyway is the vibration in the wheel constant or does it start /get bad at a certain speed?

Vibration is only at certain speeds. Normally going onto the freeway around 50 or 60, and also accelerating on the freeway to pass someone or something icon_wink.gif But is is like whoaaaa if I let me hand off the wheel the wheel goes back and for a few inches ... and my TV vibrates like crazy too icon_confused.gif

Any thoughts on that one?

Phil I had the same problem, did you have your tires balanced at the shop? When my tires got out of balance they started to vibrate right around the 50-60 area.

Nope. It was some ghetto stuff in the rear of the shop.

One installer kneeling on a foam mat... About 5 guys walking around laughing and admiring the "cop lights". Then, some people in a pickup truck came up with a mini bling bling motorbike or something with some strange chrome wheels. They started talking about that. Strang thing was the guy was flossing a comb in his hair icon_eek.gif. there's more to it but yeah.

Maybe I should take it to big O tires or somthing and have them "balance" it... I don't even know what it means to do that.

Sounds like your tires are out of balance then. When your tires get balanced they just stick on these little weights to help make the tire stable at higher speeds (50+). At least that is the basics of it.

Where do these weights go?

"The most common signs of unbalanced tires are vibration and noise problems."

I've always wondered what those things were on my stock wheels and why sometimes after I'd gone to the dealer they were missing or on another rim.

I wonder where they'd put them on these chrome wheels though so they aren't visible.

Too bad the shop didn't do that. I thought they said they were going to.

So should I just take it to a Big O tires or what do you reccomend?

Well, it was kind of cheap of them IMO not to balance your tires. Most places around here will do that for you if you buy wheels or tires from them. If you went back to store you purchased your wheels from they should do it but you said their setup looked kind of ghetto so you might better off taking it some place else. Having your tires balanced won't cost you much anyway no matter where you go (say around $20-$25 max).

Ok I'll just take it to a big shop and maybe they will notice some other problem or whatever. $2000 was so cheap I am willing to spend another $25.

I bet that'll fix the problem right away.

And on the topic of cleaning these puppies, they said to just use windex. Any thoughts on that Mr. Wheel Expert biglaugh.gif ?

From what I have seen Mother's Chrome Polish works great. Since my wheels came with the car and I don't really like them one bit, they get the brass-o treatment. It is cheaper then Mothers and produces about as good of a shine. In your case though I would recommend Mother's (easier to use and quicker) you could use Windex but since these are brand spankin new, why not spoil them for a while with the royal treatment. icon_smile.gif

Ok, so I will clean the wheels when I do my weekly car wash. I clean them using Griots Garage Wheel Cleaner.

Then, I will put on chrome polish once they are clean.

Or I guess if I need to clean then when I am not washing the car, I'll use windex.

You definately need to get your tires balanced if there are none of those weights present. That will take care of some of the vibration problems that you have. After you get that done your ride will still probably be a little rough because you a running a lower profile tire. The higher series tires definately absorb some of the bumps on the road.

just get some turtle wax chrome polish and protectant it did wonders on my mom's stock chrome wheels and i use it on my tail pipes and bed rails it works really well its more of a cleaner/polish/protectant. its good stuff and its cheap, just a suggestion. the mothers works really well too though its just more pasty and the turtle wax is more like a liquid car wax. good stuff good stuff. icon_biggrin.gif

Oh... What about the tire pressure I should put them at?

The place I got em said 45 to 50. The max on the tire says 50 I think icon_confused.gif 45 seems really high. Any ideas? Oh my stock was 32.

45 probably isnt too high because my tire says the max is 35 and the tire shop guy put it at 40. But my tires are almost the exact opposite in size as yours are so I dunno. icon_confused.gif

Got them balanced today for $40. They were mesmerized by the spinners. Even the mail man jumped out of his truck to come spin the spinner icon_rolleyes.gif

Tested them on the freeway and at around 60 it vibrated a little bit, but not nearly as much as before the balancing. Still more noticeable than with stock.

Big O said to put them around 40

well you have less side wall there so you will have a worst ride and alot better chance of **** up a rim if you hit some thing that is why if i get wheels i don't really want any thing bigger then 17, 18 at the most and that will take some thinking because of the road around here and my tires hit my bumper now some after i hit that ice that cracked part of my bumper last year.

what size tires are those any ways?

i agree goph. same deal with me, especially where i live, i mean with all the tarffic around here the roads can get pretty bad. my car can fit 20" wheels too, but im going 18 when i get wheels, which wont be for a while lol. i dont wanna **** my wheels up either. u need a balance btw sleek look and being economical. which 18s are lol. be careful with em fill dont hit anything, i dont wanna see u go a blow ur money and then ruin a rim cause of a rock
