Just hooked up my second set of HID headlights yesterday and when I turned them on they came on like normal... However every now and then when I turn them on, the left one comes on like normal but the right one will flash 2 times then shut off...just like it's trying to ignite 2 times and fails both times.... The flashes are pretty bright as if they were comming on like normal but then it will just shut off...and it doesn't happen all the time, just every now and then...what might I be able to do to stop this??? Thanks

Sounds like a faulty ballast. Try swapping the ballasts and see if the problem follows the ballast or the bulb.

Time to call the company you bought it from and get a new ballast. Hopefully they're under some kind of warrenty.

HIDs on occasion will not ignite the first time. It's a common thing with them. It's when they take 5-10 times of turning your headlights off and on again to get them to light is a problem.
The last time one of my HIDs did the first problem you described - two solid flashes then off completely - the bulb was shot. But if you swapped the ballast and it worked fine, then I dunno. |

Common with cheaper made HID kits.

To be totally honest, I would recommend upgrading the size wire, and adding a new relay for your headlights.
Sometimes it's something as simple as the ballast becoming grounded out by what ever you may have it mounted to. But upgrading the wire is something all of the grand prix guys recommend, and I stand by it. Stand by it enough so, that I registered to tell you. |

I don't understand how upgrading the wire would make a difference. HIDs draw less power than standard halogens, so if his stock headlights worked fine, why would the wire be affecting the HID? Sounds like the ballast just decided to act up. Mine has done it on occasion as well. |
