Looks like they might get melted from the heat off the rotors

It looks like it mounts to the disc brake shroud. Thats a good idea. Heat wouldn't be an issue as the shroud itself doesn't get hot. It looks like its just some LEDs in a housing with an angle bracket on it to attach to the shroud. I'm suprised some manufacturer hasn't come up with this before. I can just see that ADDICTEDTOICELED guy putting the LED gems in there so the color of the wheels would change with the rest of the lighting. icon_biggrin.gif

someone over in englad did that with some gems... he put pictures on the ICELED forum. i would have to take off my wheel to get a closer look at how i could accomplish this, but i think i could pull it off icon_smile.gif

Yeah they do that around here with spinners...

They take and H3 bulb and attach it to a bracket which is attachedto the backing plate (no heat issues) and when its turned on it makes a cool affect with the spinner.

The pics aren't working right now, but if your talking about what I think you are, I saw someone with those at a local car show and it looked really cool.
EDIT: those aren't the lights I saw but they are cool too.

yeah it's fugly!

A2I: I think you need to get some ICELEDS to go around your wheel well so the pattern that goes around your car goes around up over the wheel and then back down to follow the car again.

phil: been searching around the toyota site much lately? ...lol

Those wheels look awesome on the toyota.. Those should be spinners though.. and put a heavy weight on the bottom of the spinner so that the solid part always stays in the direction it's facing while the rest of the wheel moves, so you just see the 2 vented area's spinning and the rest stays still.. that'd be neat =)

I think any weight imbalance in the wheels would cause a nasty out of balance condition.

My spinners make the car shake at around 60 to 65 mph.

nah.. not too cool looking. the coolest part about spinnas is when you stop at a red light... EVERYONE can't help but look... you can't resist it out of the corner of your eye...

and the bearings wouldn't allow it to stay still like that... too much dirt on the road get in there and cause it to have too much friction.
