Yeah, I too would like to know them. I heard no matter what it is, as long as it is inside of your car it is legal. Is that true everywhere, just in Michigan, or does the person I talked to not know what they are talking about?

hey guys, this is mike newcomb, the "anyhting inside is legal" thing, thats a crock of ****. if its inside and on while driving it can only be the stock off-white color. nothing else, no lights foreward facing on the exterior can be anything other than white (such as headlights) or amber (turn signals) nothing rear facing can be different than red (tail lights, brake lights) excepting the offwhite liscense plate light, and reverse lights. reverse lights cannot be on while driving down road(simulates headlights, ie. car oncoming in your lane that never seems to get to you) and you cannot modify the liscense plate light in any way, nor can you replace it. anyway, these are the laws as i know them, there may be more i think i covered everything.

while i haven't gone out and quizzed any troopers, i heard from a few people that michigan laws allow interior lighting, as long as the light (neon bar, cathode, led) isn't visible...
i interpret that like this: you can glow, just don't show the source of the light (which is what we're all after anyways, isn't it?) i've driven by cops with my under-dash and under-seats on, glow is visible up top, but its not real bright so i haven't gotten pulled over (yet) |
