I know that CCLs and LEDs draw an infintessimle amount of current, but what about neons? Specifically underbody neons?
Could you leave an underbody neon kit on for a couple hours without the vehicle running without draining the battery...assuming the battery was fully charged and in good working condition? |

they will drain a perfectly good battery in about three hours, at least they drained mine.

Okay, so an hour or so on a good battery should be okay. Thanks!

I think the glass based tubes, with the high voltage transformers use around 4 or 5 amps.
I wouldn't really worry about it draining a brand new battery. I think you could leave it on overnight and be just fine in the morning. Try it and tell us |

Basic rule of thumb is use what ever the fuse size protecting them is, is what they draw. It will be a little overkill but worth it.
An SG Gold Series draws about 8 amps. Any UB with an external tranny will be about the same. The SG Blue Line or OPTX kits also use 8amp fuses but they draw closer to six amps. Any Kit with built in trannies should be close to that. It should not kill a battery unless you leave it going for an excessive amount of time. Cold climates can weaken a battery so even if it is new it can still die quick if it's cold enoungh. |
