I've read the Michigan laws for lights under the car but it never says anything inside of the car. If I'm driving with green lights on does this matter? Is it still considered a distraction?

Well if you have lights on the floorboards and under the seats or in your vents, it won't be that much of a distraction in general.

If you put cathodes on the ceiling or drive with a super bright dome light on it creates a fishbowl effect so you can't see out into the darkness. Then it's an issue.

How do you get caught? Put them on a switch, if you get stopped flip them off. The only time they would see them is if they look down onto your floorboards. I see no problem with it. icon_cool.gif

Good point. I was planning on getting blue underbody kit also along with some cathodes to put inside. I know not to drive with the underbody lights on but I atleast wanted to have the inside lights on. I was just worried because I'm only 16 and I think my parents would flip if I got a ticket icon_rolleyes.gif

as long as you cannot see the light source and that they are not higher than your headlights/taillights, it should be legal....most states say that if it is at or above the headlights then it is illegal...You should not get questioned if you just have the lights on the inside and like moss said put a switch on them just in case...

How much would a ticket cost for having the blue underbody lights on?

It would just depend on what kind of cop and if they want to jack it up.....I would say about $150 or so...I really do not know how much a ticket would be, but I did get a ticket for having LED strips behind my wheels and it was about a $150 ticket...that was by a state trooper and I was pulling up to a stop light...that was my own fault....If your state says no underbody lights just go talk to the local police station and just ask them....all they can say is no underbody glow...

Im very sure its just "illegal" if you have Visable tubes that can be seen by people from OUTSIDE. Like if you have lights in your windows, or just in plain sight.

My buddy got pulled over for having some blue neon tubes in his back windows. Cop said you can't have tubes in sight of others.

I'm pretty sure my tubes won't be in sight of anyone... They will just be able to see the glow inside of the car

You should be just fine with the lights on the inside....If you still doubt it I would just go up to the police station and ask them what the law on it is...Most of the time the police actually do not know...I think you will be just fine as long as the tube itself is not seen...

If you have the lights on your floorboards then unless you have headlights for hte glow you won't be able to see them from the outside. AND MABY you could see a little glow. But I have never had an issue. And if you do get pulled(which I do for a bunch of random stuff(non glow related though)) then just flick them off. My switches are KINDA hidden so even if the cop thought he saw soemthing I would just be like. WHERE!! BYAH!

Ever see that show "Cash Cab" He's got a pretty nifty little light show going on. What about the legalities of that?

That's a really good point... in some of the shots you can definitely see the lights from the outside of the car....

Don't know exactly how they'd be above the law... they aren't emergency vehicles and they are definitely driving on the same roads that you or I could be driving on.l...
