WI Light Laws?

Does anyone know what the Wisconsin laws on underglow are and where I can print out a copy of them?

I tried the sticky but I couldn't find anything

It's illegal in Racine and Kenosha Wisconsin. I wish it wasn't. Sorry buddy.

Jeesh, some of those are so stupid. My "adverse weather lamps" and wired onto my low beams with a relay (not a seperate way of controlling them), and I've never been hasseled. Jeesh, lol.

Illegal muffler or exhaust system. No person can modify or change the exhaust system on any vehicle that would result in an increase in exhaust noise above what it was when it came off the production line. Turbo mufflers, headers, glass packs, and exhaust pipe tips that increase the exhaust pipe size are all examples of illegal modifications to exhaust systems.

sorry that just made me laugh......... so that must mean that no one ever puts aftermarket exhausts on their rides..... lol

Mine isn't insanely loud or annoying. It is louder yes but not by much. 160 dollar ticket. Needless to say I am not about to ditch my center exit exaust though. I just got it dropped a little and paid it and move on. And never get on it when cops are around.

If they can't tell they aren't going to pull you over, simple as that.

so are underglow kits "legal"? or is it only certain colors or what?

yeah they are illegal ... but as long as they are hidden and you dont light them all the time you should be good ... keep it to the parking lot

That's what I do, when I'm parked or driving in the lot w/ them on the cops leave me alone. I've even driven past cops in the parking lot (at HS football games and such) with them on and they didn't do anything.

Not sure if it's legal, but I usually leave mine on when I'm parked on the side of suburban roads, too.

so not even "non police/emergency vehicle" colors are legal? IE white orange purple etc

That is because they legally CAN'T do anything until you leave the private property. I can do a burn out in front of a cop in a Burger king parking lot and unless the owner of the property says he would like action to be taken legally there is nothign the cop can really do. The will say they can probably. But that is why if you get in an accident in a parking lot no one ever gets a ticket. But if he sees you have lights on teh public roads they can ticket you all the want.

you think i'd more or less get away with a steady white glow while im driving? then i'd use the rest of the functions for parking lots or whatever..... any thoughts?

Put it this way. I have a 950 dollar ub kit under my car. You will NEVER see me driving with it on. It just isn't worth it. Is a 100 dollar ticket worth having other people see a white light under your car for 15 min? I am goin to say no.
