So, I'd like to know.. what's everyone use for wax on their car?

Lately I've been using 3M "All in one Cleaner Wax", which seems to do a good job of making it look nice, but I'm not so sure as to how long it lasts (by the end of winter it was all gone, dirt was sticking like no other, lol).

I'd like to try different stuff, maybe find a product that'll protect my car better, keep the water beading longer, and give me a deeper shine..

So what have you guys used that you really really liked? I'd love to try it out.

Hey man i just got to pick up the Meguiars Tech 2.0. The stuff kicks total ass. Used it on my friends car going to do mine in a couple of days and good lord. The thing was unbelieveable. While we were at it we clay barred the ***** thing looks brand new.

Tech 2.0 is by far my favorite wax i have ever used. I used Meguiars gold class for a long time but this stuff is breathtaking.

You can't have all 3. Its either going to protect better and bead longer, or have a deeper shine and protect better(but wont last as long).

If you want longjevity then look into collinite insulator wax 845.

If you want the deepest shine you are most likely going to be looking at 50ish a jar wax that goes on like butter but doesn't last as long.

Personally I enjoy using the mothers reflections line of waxes. They go on super easy and come of the same. I got 4-5 months out of my last coat, and that was through the winter.

I use two applications of Meguiar's "NXT" Generation Paste . Started using it when I lived in the desert and it was too hot for conventional waxes to stay put . Its easy to apply, a dream to buff out, and seems to last longer than most I've tried . I've tried maybe a half dozen of the conventional paste waxes available in most auto parts stores and this is the best of the bunch . Haven't compared it to any real expensive specialty products, but the NXT is about as much as I'm willing to spend on a paste wax .

Remembering properly stripping, washing, cleaning, and polishing the surface before you apply a wax contributes probably more to the end look then just what brand of wax you use .

I have a good assortment of products...Meg. Gold Class, Meg. 3 stage wax, some kind of polish that works amazing...It really depends on what car I am cleaning for what product I use....I use Chemical Guys Polish and then a wax they make and it is awesome when I get done...

blue one : A while back there was a lot of talk on the Miata forums about the temperature at which a paste wax would lose its solidity and stop providing protection . In Nevada where the summer temps are routinely 115+, the surface of the car is well well above that, and as I recall most of the waxes whose specs were given fell well short of the NV temperatures . The Meguiar's NXT was one of the few that protected above the summer temps, which is why I started using it . Found out its a dream to work with and looks great too .
I don't have a link to the thread but a Google might turn up something . I'm really only going on what was said by others, I have no first hand scientific knowledge of how waxes break down / melt / whatever .

I use and love Poorboy's Natty's Paste Wax - Blue

"A slightly different formulation from the regular Natty's, made for dark coloured cars to give an extra boost in depth and shine. Just like before, Natty's Blue can be applied in sun or shade and is still the easiest paste wax to apply and remove."

I also use "WheelWax" on my wheels, very awesome stuff as well.

I get everything from http://autogeek.net/ . They carry high end stuff like Pinnacle Souverän. It's 85 bucks for 8oz. But they also have Poorboy's which is like 20 bucks. icon_smile.gif

I just used Rejex in my most recent detailing:

It's amazing crap. I got caught in the rain and it acted like rain-x for the entire car.

Do they make ICE wax now? Last I checked it was more of a polish and they were trying to sell it as a wax. Polish is great, but it doesn't last long.

As soon as I get a friggin hose (left our old one at our old house) and some nice weather, I should have a nice picture thread after using the PoorBoys and wheelwax icon_wink.gif icon_biggrin.gif

The problem I have is that the wax creates problems with my black step sides on my S-10.
If it's a white paste wax, a lot of them say not to get it on black plastic (learned that first hand). Also, it's tough to get out of ridges (around the step side plastic.
So we've been looking around for a clear wax that is fine on plastic accessories!

My weapon(s) of choice:

Meguiars Liquid 'Cleaner' Wax - removes all rubbish and oxidization. Followed by Oznium's Cherry Wax (deep deep shine, with a very smooth feel)

I used to use Meguiar's, but just switched to ICE. So far, I love it. It seems to last OK, but the application is the ****. No more worrying about getting it in a crack or on plastic.

Just used Oznium's Fusion All-in-One polish on my girlfriend's black Sentra, that had years of scratches, oxidization, you name it. Fusion Polish got it all off in one coat (used two regardless) and it looks brand new! PS: Even took off the haze on the headlights! icon_smile.gif Finishing it up with some Cherry Wax to seal, and Pinnacle Glaze as the final cut. I must say even after using handmade zymol (50+ for a soap bar's worth) this has to be my favorite polish yet!

Just found out my store in waukeshaw carries the Meg NXT Tech wax 2. Needless to say I bought a 3 bottles to stock up(employee pricing ftw! haha). Gunna try it when I get off of work at 12 before the car show tonight for the club I just joined.

Well just got done. And wow. This stuff is great. I love it. I gave the car a very thurough and sudsy wash. Then dried it off adn waited a bit to wax. The car looks great. VERY shiney and very smooth. Def my new favorite wax. Great stuff. Super easy on and off. Loved every min of it.

BTW I did it by hand too. So it isn't like you need a orbital to use it.
