the original thread on this was started in late feb:
http://www.oznium.com/forum/topic16131-highlight-emblem I've been fiddling with other projects trying to think of a way to make the lens contoured correctly, then I realized I could take the lessons learned from my headlight lenses to make these. I cut out a new lens from 1/4" acrylic, beveled the edges to a smooth finish then torched them ever so slightly so the sanded area would become transparent. Then spray painted the backside of the lens in such a way that the emblem silhouette was clear. (radioflyer trade secret) The finished product:
Mounted:
In the daytime, the lens is gloss black and the emblem has a "sunken" look into the lens for a cool 3D effect. At night, all you see is the etched emblem. Unfortunately my weak-ass camera doesn't do it justice. I have since trimmed the top and re-painted it so there is no light "leaking" from the top. |

Looks great, but I think it would look much nicer if you were to hide those two top areas where you can still see the light peeking through.
