getting parked until i finish it up.
preview: All in all everything thats not necissary such as ac cruise control or anything else that has some weight and doesnt add to to go game will be removed. panels exterior are being replaced with all cf or fiberglass and windows are being replaced with 1/4 in lexan minus the windshield. interior is recieving a cage, 8 gallon fuel cell, 5 point harness with light as hell seats and probably some spray for insurance policy. motor is being replaced by a built dohc with stronger internals ported heads 2 evo III 16g's with special bent headers and pipes. intercooler with water injection, dual core radiator, naturally larger injectors lifters and better ignition timing. all in all the car wont be driven for at least a year and almost 12,000 will go into parts for all this. maybe if im online i'll show the progress here and there. |

HOLY GOD. This is going to be an epic project. You have to keep it updated, i want to see the whole thing and then the end setup. Your is AWD? There is a AWD drive one around here putting out 650hp. I am drooling at the pics.

na. im keeping it just fwd. no point to making it a thousand pounds less then adding a thousand for awd.
probably going to use wider front tires. i've been lookin at these micky slicks but i dont know if im all that interested in traction yet. by the time its done it should have 540 reliable hp on the ground and weight approximately 2300-2500lbs. right now the motor is only a sohc 160hp base model and the car is approximately 3500-3600lbs. 0-60 is in the 9's with a quarter probably in the 16 or 17s |

^^ Oh ok i understand that man. Still some ***** power either way with a great vehicle, any trans upgrades or such? Also what suspension you going to run on this as i know that could help a great deal. And are you going to go for bigger or just better brakes? I love crossed drilled rotors would like to see those, i hate slotted though.
It is really good to see another member on oz that is REALLLY big into the performance aspects of cars though. Can't wait to see this. I am turboing in june and having everything powder coated black for stealth. |

suspensions going to be upgraded after i get all this going. brake wise i'll probably do some larger rotors and go ceramic. stock its all disk and all are vented by scoops so it will work for now. but i was looking at a nice tein setup all around, but i'd rather get the ball rolling on this before i decide to buy another motorcycle.
but transmission will go with the new motor. it will be a 6 speed and final gear ratio will be around 2.91 or so i would assume. |

Well I'd be thinking of traction, with the upgrades on my car I find it tough sometimes to keep traction in first nevermind if I turboed it. You will definately need slicks and those traction bars that 3sx used on their FWD drag car. BTW are you on 3SI?

no im not.
tractions never really been a problem, i imagine i will be using stabilizers but i think it would get boring to list all the parts im concidering, and just list the parts i know im getting. picked up my hks timer today though, friend was selling it cheap and i figured i should get it now. even though i'll be using water injection im still not sure how hot they're going to run. anyways im going back to wright patterson so i probably wont be on for a while until im back in cleveland. i'll take pics when i can and as parts float in. |

Theres a guy with a VR4 on base here. Too bad his engine is knocking. So he'll be rebuilding upon returning from Iraq.
New car in my future too? |

If you go on 3si.org there are a lot of people have TT conversion on their NA FWD and traction is always a problem. 160hp at the crank you not going to have a problem but when you get to 300whp on a FWD 3s then it will be.

When you have 300whp on any car, traction starts to become an issue (maybe not so much on a 4wd) and I speak from experience. |

alright, so where im at right now is no interior aside from seats/belts door panels top half of dash and. well thats it.
carbon fiber hatch is here in a day or so and so is my lexan windows. been looking into making my own carbon fiber pieces, going to start of with making an ashtray when i have some extra cash. as for the traction issue, dont worry when the time comes im sure i wont really enjoy sitting in one spot spinning the tires. and im on 3si.org not really much help, the nasa guy was help but havent really talked to anyone else. edit: i have another cavalier ive been driving. got it from texas when i was at goodfellow. also been riding my z1000 a bit and tweaking the motor on my cb500t |

mmm. maybe. probably not. i think you should just build one yourself and have a good time. nothing quite feels like the gratifictation and self accomplishment of doing something yourself to beat the **** off the people who bought it the way it was. if that makes any sense

Definitely does, I get somewhat of the same satisfaction with the Jeep if one of these lil four-bangers around town buzzes by and we end up at a light. I will destroy them up until I shift into 4th (~75). Then the fact that I'm driving a lifted mailbox tends to take over... lol.
But it'd be nice to not worry about that lil aerodynamic fact... soooo nice... |
